You're Marks. What do you do?

If they don't, someone else will.

Shouldn't it be 25% and not 30%? He is coming off his rookie contract without any MVPs or All NBAs

Can't think of any reason why brooklyn wouldn't give him a 5 year deal. Marks sat down with Russell before Russell was drafted by the Lakers and liked him a lot.

They have a good thing going for them. He's not a max player, but you do what you have to do to keep him. Their fan base suffered enough in the last 10 years, especially giving away their top picks to boston

Id say let him get an offer in free agency and match it. Even if its 4 years and you risk him leaving ala hayward. If you win, he will stay.

Id offer no more than 5/120. Dont outbid yourself.

5/100 would be fair, he probably gets closer to the max though.

Yes. Assuming 109M Cap and 5% raises:

Year 1 - 27,250,000
Year 2 - 28,612,500
Year 3 - 30,043,125
Year 4 - 31,545,281

4 Years, $117,450,906

Nets can offer:

Year 1: 27,250,000
Year 2: 29,430,000
Year 3: 31,784,400
Year 4: 34,327,152
Year 5: 37,073,324

4 Years, 122,791,552 or 5 Years, 159,864,876

Some of the responses in here are dumb. Why in the world would the Nets max him out at 5/156 when they don't have to. He's not some disgruntled player looking for an out. He wants to be a Net and I think he'll give them a slight discount. The Nets have a 21M cap hold on him and over 40M in cap space which includes the cap hold. If they dump Crabbe they will have enough for 2 max slots. Depending on how FA plays out will determine how they proceed with D-Lo.

Gut says they start in the 20M per range and if another team offers the max they would match pretty easily which I think is the 27M range for his max. He'll end up in the 4/80 or 5/100 range maybe with a built in PO after year 2 or 3.

They can go over the cap to resign him if need be and will should they strike gold in FA.

You guys underestimate the idiocy of front offices. DLO will get the max.

If I were them I'd match any offer sheets. They need to resign him, he's still really young. If they can manage 4y/100m that would be fair.

Is it bad when I read this comment the first thing that came to my mind was Magic trying to sign D-Lo to a max next year?

it won't come to that. The market will bear a Zach Lavine-type offer that the Nets will match immediately. What was once a weird trade for the Nets who have since got off Mozgov's contract is coming up daisies.

At most he'll get the 4 year 117M from a desperate team like PHX. The Nets would match it though unless they had reason not to.

I think the Nets will try and lock him up quickly to something less then his 21M cap hold if they can. 4/80 or 5/100 with a player option for him to get out in 2-3 years for a big pay day if he keeps improving into a superstar.

Best case scenario someone gives him offer sheet and they match it. Don’t see that happening though

The Nets very impressive short rebuild is going to come to an unfortunate end if they sign Dlo to a big deal. Nothing special as a playmaker, bad defender, not an efficient scorer. Sure, he could continue to get better, but that's a risky gamble

He's 22 still. He doesn't get the big money until his next contract. I would offer him 4/75 and tell him to go play with the Pelicans if he doesn't like it. People aren't giving out Jabari Parker and Otto Porter contracts anymore.
