TS% FTW. lol.

If Melo's career started 10 years earlier, he'd be revered like Iverson, but instead analytic geeks in NBA front offices have brought him to his knees. He probably wakes up everyday screaming like this....

You’re laughing at TS% as the most commonly used statistic when it comes to efficiency or making shots?

Please my friend, please come join the rest of us in 2019. And while you’re at it, look at Anthony’s TS% over the past 5 seasons and please notice the clear trend that has taken place.

Uh, you got it all wrong, bruh. I'm laughing at Melo and Iverson. And Kobe. Guys who wouldn't be put on the same pedestal if their careers were beginning today.

Of course the Lakers will miss him. They're so thin that his minutes are going to go to guys you really don't want on the court for any significant amount of time.

Melo had many great seasons where, among other things, his TS% was well over 50. The issue is that anyone with eyes can tell you he's not that player anymore. It's sort of strange how people try to make this about analytics instead of something that should be clear even without them. The guy is 35 years old. Iverson was retired by then, and Kobe probably should have been. Guys get old.

One of those is not like the other. Kobe was always more efficient than his peers, and you can't just compare TS% by the % gap from a mean. We'd need to do a proper bell curve and figure out his percentile.

Anyway, this is getting offbase but Iverson, Melo and Kobe had very different offensive games and impacts. Kobe would be great regardless of era. Iverson and Melo might have issues only if they insist on playing dumb - but I doubt they build those same bad habits in this era.

On the other hand look at what the Lakers communicated about Lonzo and Lebron last year...

So sick of Laker fans starting Laker threads on the General Board!

Wait, it was a Clipper fan?
