Re: Rookie Discussion [19/20] [part II] Ja v Zion
Due to playing for a deep playoff team, and due to reduced playing time, Michael Porter Jr will probably miss NBA all-rookie first team, and even in a danger for the 2nd, as well as he already missed this season's rookie game on the all-star weekend for team-USA. But he is arguably TOP5 prospect of this rookie class, probably TOP3 too, and he just makes 2020 best single-game performance this season for a rookie with 37 points (12-16, 3pt 4-6) and 12 rebounds (+25 in +/- in an overtime win). With this game, he becomes the first rookie with 35-10 game since Carmelo Anthony in 2004!

Very ironic because his comp is Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony and I just realized Anthony was a Nugget.
I feel like MPJ will be the successor to Melo. Good for Denver for a very bad pick order.
Personally, I rate MPJ higher than Ingram, Tatum because of his natural scoring ability. While other elite prospects are kinda forcing to get points, this guy the game comes to him. Its almost he was born to play basketball.
Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!

I feel the same way about Chuma Okeke if he comes back right

MPJ is the best rookie player this year. Zion second and Ja third. Ja will win because of the other two has missed to much time. The future looks great for the NBA.

Offensively, sure. But Tatum came into the league playing almost All-nba defense, where as Porter looks almost Kevin Knox esque defensively off ball on occasion. I'd take Tatum defensive edge over Porter offensive edge

The Nuggets needed multiple great performances in a row though. It wasn’t going to cut it for Porter to have one impressive showing. So now, he’s rattled off four in a row:
vs Oklahoma City: 37 points, 12 rebounds, 12-of-16 FG, 4-of-6 3P, 9-of-9 FT
vs San Antonio: 30 points, 15 rebounds, 11-of-19 FG, 5-of-9 3P, 3-of-4 FT
vs Portland: 27 points, 12 rebounds, 10-of-18 FG, 4-of-7 3P, 3-of-3 FT
vs Utah: 23 points, 11 rebounds, 7-of-18 FG, 1-of-8 3P, 8-of-8 FT
Michael Porter Jr. became the first rookie in NBA history to string together more than two games of at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and one three-pointer made. All others have only strung together two games with those numbers, while Porter’s streak sits at four as of today.

He needs to start over Nunn already. He's been really good in the bubble. Kid exploded.

Herro’s ability to get to the rim almost at will in the bubble has been eye opening. The 3pt shot has been off and most of this production is actually coming off penetration. Noticeably better finishing and passing in the lane. We are seeing flashes of what he did in summer league now against NBA competition.
