So Trump said earlier today he was thinking about ordering a quarantine for the New York area but now he says it's not necessary. Why would someone in a leadership role give such mixed signals, it creates needless confusion and waste of time. We are in a middle of pandemic not trying to get leverage on some real estate deal. Sounds like a "hey look I'm trying to do something" type of publicity stunt.

I thought about this today for anybody that's died from the coronavirus that's considered young. If a young person dies, there's an underlying condition whether the person knows they have a underlying condition or they not aware they have an underlying condition. I'm thinking there's people that have died that didn't know he/she had an underlying condition. It could also been a person having the Type A blood which is the worst blood type a person can have if they catch the coronavirus. The sneaky underlying conditions if a person is not aware they have an underlying condition would be high blood pressure, diabetes or Type A blood.

I also came to realize the USA as long as the USA stays #1 in the world in the most confirmed cases, That eventually the USA will be #1 in the world with the most recoveries.

I suspect that there is a division between extroverts and introverts when it comes to social distancing (probably obvious). I am naturally an introvert so social distancing is not difficult for me at least when it comes to not meeting people (just being around only family is fine by me). But it seems like some of the extroverts I know are struggling with this badly. This probably made it easy for me to suggest that people should not be going out anywhere when no one was taking this seriously. Like, I don't have to go out and meet people to "live my life to the fullest" whereas for some people, this is an essential part of living.

I was definetly 100% introvert in my school days but nowadays I feel I am 100% extrovert especially when I'm at work.

The social distancing thing is weird now at work when we are on our breaks.

I hope this coronavirus is seasonal and that it dies on it's own in the spring or summer. Because if this virus isn't seasonal, This could go on 12 months nonstop with no way to stop the virus. Trying to keep everyone at home with the hopes the virus don't spread to anyone else, There's no way this would stop if the virus isn't seasonal. Which has me thinking maybe its best for everyone in the USA to catch it and hope you survive/ defeat the virus and build up the immunity.

Your being very generous with your understanding. Very very generous.

The best way I've seen it laid out is if any fortune 500 company CEO acted this erratic, with no clear message for so long. The board would remove them. He's the head of the ship. The buck stops there.

God damn it, is there ANY hope of getting this thing under control in months instead of years?

It can, if all the states coordinated like a singular country. What's happening now is what happened in the EU. One state enacts shelter in place once it gets out of control, then another follows. You can possibly avoid shutdowns in the mountain states and central US. But without the midwest and eastern seaboard in concert, I don't see how this can be resolved anytime soon.

People talk about the government a lot and I agree with that, but its citizens must also do their part. Absolutely ridiculous image.

I had a vacation and planned on running my 2nd ultramarathon May 29th. I'm assuming it's getting cancelled and am now super bummed. Though it's in the woods and I'm kind of wondering if they might get away with it since likely it's only 50ish people running and it's a 27 mile course, so it's sparse. Ugh, wish we'd have shut down more sooner, this might even cancel fall sports.

Edit: Also I'm American and want to say in agreement with TMU, people do need to do better as well. We're a stupid, thickheaded country.

Can someone chime in and elaborate if this is a seasonal thing that will pass by once we reach 70s and 80s ?

Not a lot of evidence of that so far; although it's still early. New Orleans and Florida will likely give some answers soon

Too many variables, there's little to believe warm weather will "make a dent" (as the Harvard paper states)

https://ccdd.hsph.harvard.edu/will-covid-19-go-away-on-its-own-in-warmer-weather/

Also, since the virus itself isn't going anywhere, even if there's seasonality to it, just means conditions for it turn "favorable" again once Fall/Winter come back.

Yeah, this makes sense. I'm one of the few introverts among my group of friends and family. Was the first one to start social distancing and wearing a mask. I have no problem doing stuff on my own but many of my extroverted friends/ family are complaining and want to get back to socializing at the coffee shop, mall, gym, etc. Had to talk my cousin out of planning a house party for next month.

Hydroxychloroquine has typical side effects like a lot of medications these days. Consultation with your doctor is required just like a lot of medications these days. Its effectiveness may vary just like a lot of medications these days. Will it work with SARS CoV 2? Inconclusive. But other nations reported positive results. Its been almost a week, haven't heard about its efficacy here yet.
