He is fat, at least basketball-wise. There is a reason that in in any sport that endurance matters (long distance running , soccer, basketball to a lesser degree) players are thin and not overly muscular.

I'm afraid it's all Zion at this point. Miami has a top-notch staff but it does seem as if NO has bent over backwards to allow him every possible opportunity to stay focused and in shape and he didn't care to do it. They even let him in the gym during the lockdown. I like Zion's game but I've always been skeptical of his longevity even if he were especially dedicated, his body just isn't made for basketball. If he chooses to just not give any extra effort on top of his genetics naturally putting all that weight on his knees than no one can save his career.

It's not as if the Heat could hire a drill sergeant to just stay on him every waking minute and scream profanity in his ear every time he picks up junk food or skips a workout...then again knowing Riley he'd at least look into that option :lol:

Zach Lowe i believe had heard from a source that zion was at 300lbs right before he came back this season. He def looks bigger now. No way hes under 300. Im shocked by it and it is inexcusable. Zion is in the same division as the grizz if he isnt performing it helps my team. But a good zion is good for the league . It will be a shame if he cant get his $h1t together

It's four games with no home/away crowd or atmosphere. I wouldn't call this playoff experience.

I wonder if he's going through depression. He did leave for a family emergency away from the bubble. Maybe something is going on and it's stressing him out? I don't see the sense in fat-shaming him. I hope he can pull out of whatever is troubling him and get right.

I remember before the draft half of this board taunted him as defensive elite because few block highlights on white kids in college who end up being doctors rather than basketball players. How has their eyes been opened.

I know that this is pure speculation but it might be possible that he is suffering from some kind of metabolic disease. When i hear about Zion i always think of the football player Ronaldo (the older brazilian one, not Christiano). He was a worldclass striker but in his later years he gained weight and was very injury prone. People used to make fun of him but after he ended his career he came out and said that he was diagnosed with Hypothryreosis, a metabolic disease, while playing for AC Milan and that this disease was the reason he gained weight despite eating clean and working out.
Another case is Mario Götze. When he came back to Dortmund in 2016 he was always injured, visibly gained weight and he said that he always felt tired and exhausted. He was diagnosed with Myopathy in 2017 and it took him nearly a year to come back from it.

it could be.....
as far as we know and the world knows, he eats too freaking much relative to his expenditure

Ronaldo the brazilian and Götze were "on shape" during most of their career, early-mid 20s, ( injuries not considered) If I remember correctly. Zion has always been a "buona forchetta"
