So are we just going to forget what he did with Houston to start the year and how he just quit on that team? Then praise him because he teamed up with 2 other top 15 players? Even with all of that happening he hasnt even been the best player, Jokic has.

Yes, because he deserves praise. Durant hasnt even played much and houston are a disaster without harden.

Yes joker has been the best

Yeah Hardens star team mates dont show up at times. Jokic, on the other hand, has no star team mates. Its simple, put Jokic on any other candidates' team and he'll do more with them.

I'm not a nuggets' guy but its mind blowing how people are bending out of shape to disrespect Jokic.

Harden acted like a drama queen in Houston, left for the All-Star stacked Nets and plays in the East. Other than washed up Millsap, Jokic doesn't have a single All-Star teammate.

MVP voters should realize now that they shouldn't have given Westbrook the MVP for stats that were empty when compared to Harden's stats that year.
They should give Harden the MVP this year to make up for it, even if they'd never usually give the MVP to a traded player.

Is an Embiid-Jokic fight

And the third is Anteto.

If Embiid comes soon is his, first east seed, best stats.

If not is Joke, top 4 west (LA falling soon) best stats.

If not Anteto top 3 east best easts.

Harden can wait this 3 pieces fall for even talking about him.

All of them had the ups and downs during the season except Jokic. He's been consistent all season long,he's super efficient and of course super clutch.Imo he's having an all time top3 or top5 season offensively, truly remarkable doing all that kind of stuff almost effortlessly.

The Sixers are 5-1 without him (and Curry) and almost beat the Bucks. Them being still first should play against Embiid, not for him. Embiid is less valuable to the Sixers than Jokic is to the Nuggets.

I also don't think that record should matter as much in a covid year, especially for teams that have been hit by covid while others haven't.

So after another big 28/15/10/2/1 outing on 65/50/100% shooting, Jokic currently has the highest PER ever at 31.9 and the 3rd best BPM at 12.1 (behind 88 MJ and 09 LeBron only). I really don't think there is any narrative strong enough to give the MVP to someone else this season.

Lock this ASAP. There's already a sticky'ed thread for this conversation.

With Embiid and Lebron out, I think that the ranking is pretty obvious.

Jokic
Harden/Giannis
Luka/Dame

Embiid and Lebron whenever they come back can take back a spot depending on what happened.

Okay...so OP acknowledges James was a contender, but because he's injured he's out.

Then he says Jokic doesn't count because his team isn't good enough.

Uh...the Nuggets and Lakers are about as good as each other. So if you think James was an MVP candidate then you should think Jokic is.

I seriously do not understand homers on basketball enthusiast sites. "James Harden is spectacular" - yeah...? Is this the first time you've seen him?

James is out after high ankle sprain. We don't know how long Embiid will be out, and how he's gonna perform after the injury.

Jokic is a safe bet. Luka is a candidate if the Mavs have the same WIN% as the Nuggets at the end of the season.

Jokic is having one of the greatest regular seasons in NBA history.

He's currently:

2nd in steals
3rd in assists
4th in points
5th in rebounds

All-time, he's:

1st in PER
3rd in BPM
10th in WS/48

Among those three stats, his average all-time rank is 4.7th place - tied with 2009 LeBron James for the highest of all-time.

Jokic, Embiid, James, Lillard. This race is wide open.

Jokic or LeBron

Jokic is having the best season ever offensively and - of course - his teammates are far worse than him. Take him out and Denver is a high lottery team
LeBron is an egocentric maniac but the Lakers win big with him and lose big without him

Embiid, Giannis and Doncic/Harden should be the longshots but probably by a mile. Tough luck for Embiid who is having a career year but his team can win without him, so in that case it works against him.

Papi_swav wrote:Is James Harden. That is it, that is all. KD has missed most of the year and Kyrie takes games off when he feels like it but Harden has elevated and kept this Nets team by the top of the standings. Now with Lebron down for some time and Embiid as well I think Harden is the clear cut MVP if he finishes the season the way he's been playing. The guy is just an elite offensive player as a scorer and passer. Words cannot express how spectacular this guy is.

Why don't you make a poll instead of shoving your opinion down people's throats by opening a thread like this? And why don't you use the stickied MVP topic instead of opening a new topic? Because you don't like the poll results and the arguments over there? Nobody's buying what you're selling, deal with it.
