i think he will be very motivated to play defense or he wont see the floor much
I'm sure he'll be motivated but he doesn't have it in him to actually play high level defense (aside from a few moments). He was never a great defender to begin with.

From 2015-2019 he was a great interior defender for the Spurs. After 2019 he fell off but for those 4 years he was pretty good.

None of these players would join the Nets if they still had New Jersey in their name and played in Newark. Point is that stars only want to go to a select few cities and it sure as hell ain't Minneapolis.

Makes sense, their other centers can’t space the floor so he gives them a different look. I’m interested to see if Nash, a first year coach, will be willing to bench DJ and Aldridge for Claxton in the playoffs. Claxton seems like the better option against P&R heavy teams and more mobile 5s.

There was all that public signalling about LMA going to the Heat. Perhaps they felt they had the inside lane but just goes to show that if you want a player, trade for him.

Anyway, it was also made public that LMA's #1 priority is to win a ring so I'm happy he chose what's best for him. Sure rich get richer, etc., but I'm just glad he didn't join the snake out west.

He'll likely have a resurgent several games or so then settle into what he's got left to give. And unless he's been hoodwinking us, he won't be closing out the perimeter so he's a desired switch for guards; his legs do not have near the lift or spring they once did so people shouldn't expect good D or even boards.

However, muscle memory being what it is and LMA stretching his game (he was near or at the top of our 3 point efficiency last season), his left block turnaround J with that high release is money. He can also hit the 3 capably. And he can fake and drive for +1s. Great FT shooter. Has a knack for timely late game O rebounds and putbacks.

LMA's a winner who just was in places with bad timing. I'm grateful for the five years he committed to us overall and even though I usually hate the stacking for rings, I really wish him all the best in getting one. Thank you and good luck, LMA!

beacuse of billy king? They made finals before , they got swept but they made it . Or do brooklyn nets fans not count NJ nets?

Yea Nets had their run at 2 finals appearances but with ratner and the billy king mess they had nothing going for them.
This team didn’t tank purposely and made a great hiring in marks to get them where they are.

No matter how great a team looks on paper, there's always a team or 2 that just has their number... I wonder who those teams will be in the East?

Come on man, no one is touching this team in the East or West at this point. It is what it is.

Great signing by Marks for the veteran minimum!

I almost forgot, we still have the MLE & DPE...

No excuses now. If they don't win it all it will be considered one of the greatest failures in NBA history. If they do win the championship, then... meh.

Agreed. This is exactly how I feel. I hope for LMA to get a ring since that was his originally intention when he joined the Spurs but Kawhi wrecked any chances of that happening.

This is getting ridiculous.
They're the best team, but I do hope they somehow don't win the championship.

The problem I have with the buyout market is when super teams are created they usually sacrifice a bench and depth.

That just isn't the case anymore. The buyout market 100% addresses super teams weaknesses.

I mean good for the nets and the Lakers but it's just It's starting to make the NBA so much less competitive and so much less watchable.
