I mentioned it earlier in the draft thread months ago that I don’t think Cade will have acquired even half of Lukas rookie skillbag in his career.

This is not to be critical but I class Cade as being a below average athlete without the serious footwork development/skill moves to offset it. He has what I like to call mud for feet and not twinkle toes.

Jokic/Luka has the twinkle toes, Cade doesn’t and to lesser extent Tatum.

Its still his 2nd game after that injury that sidelined him for a month???weeks???.

Give him time to adjust. So far I saw his bbiq naking the right and quick passes which his teammates couldnt finish.

Yeah Cade might be 2-15 so far in his NBA career, but like others mentioned, give him time since he just came back from injury.

It’s not like he’ll be the next Markelle Fultz.

And it’s not like they’re sitting him out Back To Backs because they think he’s the next Kawhi Leonard.

man...pistons fans need a win. casey has done nothing for them and getting the #1 pick in a stacked draft - let's hope they didn't make a mistake.

It's comical how people on this board are so critical of a rookie.

Same thing last year with Edwards, now look at how much he's developed.

I wouldn’t really be concerned with Cades shooting unless it continues for over 5 straight games

Sure, because the first five games always defines a career. :noway:

There were always glimpses of stardom with Edwards. Even back in College. There is 0 about Cade. All his hype was based on him being a 6'8 PG with an elite shot. Turns out he is 6'6, doesn't have the ballhandling skills or athleticism to be a primary ballhandler.

Did I say that?

My point is that any rust he might have should be gone by after 5 games. That’s basically how long preseason is

All im saying is people need to give these guys time to grow and get used to the NBA game. Ball handling can get better, and he doesn't need to be this athletic freak to be successful.

The voting in this poll. I get that Toronto fans are very active here and Barnes has had a hot start. There's no way Franz Wagner is going to win ROY though. He's likely going to be a very nice player but he should not be getting more votes in this poll than Mobley. Carry on..

folks need to factor in role here too. mobley has been great defensively - anchoring them. on offense, it's not like he's running it - he's scoring off others. barnes is initiating his own offense and going iso alot. franz can catch and shoot and do the dirty work. all 3 of them have different roles and i think that matters.

regardless of what cade did or what he can become, i just thought it was really weird he was listed at 6'8 but was actually 6'6 and the pistons still didn't care. that's a pretty big difference imho.

The difference between Edwards and Cade is that Edwards was chucking horrible jump shots in the first half of his rookie season and bricking them. His shot selection was terrible but he was still able to blow by defenders regularly and showcase his elite athleticism. Cade wasn't able to do that in Summerleague, preseason and now the regular season.
