By that logic isn't the Cavs FRP, which will be a late 1st, basically an early 2nd?
So it's still a 1st and a 2nd, basically

But there's one glaring hole with that lineup.... outside shooting. LeVert is alright but IMO the Cavs need a real knockdown shooter (a guy like Hield, Trent, etc.)
I don't think the Cavs are done yet.
Hield is 29, shooting 42% from 2 and 37% from 3, can't play defense or do anything beyond shoot the 3, and makes $20M/year. Why are so many people fascinated by him? He'll be making the minimum once his contract's up.
I never said the Cavs should get Hield. I personally think his contract is atrocious. What I'm suggesting is that they need a knockdown shooter LIKE Hield and Trent.

Agreed, they need someone not like Hield. Powell would've a been better fit, and cheaper (no 1st), than LeVert.

the portland deal is definitely bad but norm also has 3 more years on his deal so financially, clippers took on way more salary.

I don't like the trade big picture for the Cavs. I kinda thought the best move here was patience: keep Rubio's bird rights and keep your picks. But this trade does make them more interesting this season. The Cavs getting another guy who can dribble is a big upgrade, regardless of whether we like Levert or not. He'll be entering a rotation that is currently: Okoro, Cedi Osmon, Dean Wade, Dylan Windler. It's just not hard to improve on that!
Levert is 27. He's not a nice young piece they're adding to their core. He's their Rubio replacement and he cost a FRP.

Oh true.... Considering Blazers just traded Powell for peanuts, I wonder if the Cavs made any attempt to get him...
Heck... even Covington would've been a great fit.
Garland/Powell/Covington/Mobley/Allen is scary.

He is a ball dominant player that isnt a good shooter and is a bad defender. He seems like a horrible fit alongside Garland in that starting lineup. Unless the thought is to have him being a microwave scorer 6th man. If that is the case, that is quite the hefty price tag for a 6th man.
