Not I don’t hate Tatum or Giannis. Luka is annoying because he glares and yells at the refs on literally every trip down the floor. He acts like an entitled douche. And now he’s added flopping to his repertoire. Draymond does it too and I “hate” him even though he isn’t 1/10th the talent Luka is.

I'm tired of watching the playoffs in general. The refs are controlling the entire game. This seems like the tightest whistle I've ever seen in the playoffs for all the games and it's just weird. Everyone's always in foul trouble, tick tack fouls, what the hell is going on? I can't help but feel like there's some type of game management happening from the officials due to the inconsistancy but it's very random like today Sixers were in foul trouble for tick tack fouls but they should want the Sixers to win so they can extend the series. So it's like what is the reason? Is it Vegas? Are they trying to play around with spreads, over/unders? Or is it just terrible excessive whistle blowing? I don't get it. It's the playoffs. Let them play. It makes no sense.

Flopping's been around for ages. Wade, Lebron, Manu, etc were still amazing to watch despite being notorious floppers. So is Luka.

Flopping is both pragmatically justified and also a nightmare to have to watch.

Unfortunately, he doesn't get calls when he doesn't flop. I know the haters will blatantly lie and say that he is always flopping, but that's just not true. We Mavs fans have been saying it for years that he has to fall down, because otherwise they just refuse to give him the calls, doesn't matter that he drives more than almost anyone in the NBA. Embiid is the best at this, and when it's the playoffs, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Well like it or not -- it is Luka's style. He has built his game around flopping and whining, so he is all in. So far, you can't really argue against this strategy. But I think it will tire and other teams and fans will get sick of it. Especially now that Brunson has started with the same crap.

Did CP3 die and we forgot what he's been doing his entire career?

After CP3's masterclass on flopping in games 1 and 2, it's not a surprise Dallas has come out in games 3/4 embellishing contact. It's how you win games, apparently.

How come no one mentions CP3 grabbing Brunson's arm and hitting himself with it? Everyone just said "wow such surgical moves by CP3" What about Booker snapping his head on every drive?

Luka is a flopper, we all agree. But you can't seriously tell me the Suns aren't the poster team of flopping?

yeah I don't know if CP3 is just the draymond of flopping where repeated offenses make it the norm for him, but CP3 is probably the GOAT floppers and low key one of the dirties players i've watched. not that he isn't an all time great level talent, he definitely is. but it's hard say anyone else is a bigger flopper in any series he's played.

As a neutral observer, it was embarrassing what Luka was doing out there today.

It was obvious since early on, when he got a tech, that he was planning on falling down or flopping anytime someone got near him.

It’s the same way I feel when I watch the Sixers play & 7-2 Embiid is on the floor more than the damn ball itself.

The Celtics yesterday were also very egregious— in that they were planning to fall down anytime Lopez or Giannis were near the play.

League needs to stop rewarding this nonsense.

No, you're an irrational hater, you just don't like the guy and you make up crap to dump on him.
The game started with a clear flagrant on Crowder who threw Luka to the ground, he was mad and got a tech for it.
All series long, Booker, CP3 and Crowder have been flailing around on the smallest contact, and sometimes even without it, and getting calls, Luka got 5 fouls on game 5, the 5th one Crowder (away from the ball) runs into him flails his arms and Luka gets hit with the 5th, CP3 throws himself on Brunson while he's bringing the ball up the court, flails and gets whistled.
Dwight Powell got a tech on a loose ball foul, it was a loose ball foul on him, but Ayton did the same thing on the previous possession and got the offensive board.
The flopping in game 4 was fully understandable.

Whenever anyone gets called out for flopping constantly or just getting reffed differently

Some random stan - "they should get at least 3 times as many fouls called for them and you know it, here's some random incident of him being fouled to prove it how they are the most hard done by in the NBA. Also if they didn't flop constantly they'd never get the call they so righteously deserve"

Yeah okay man. It's the same **** whenever anyone from LeBron, to Giannis, to Doncic gets criticised for the obvious.

It's just so weirdly inconsistent
Luka never seems to get the calls when he aggressively drives in and gets hit. But then the very next play he can get a 50/50 flop on defense where he's not in very good position
I feel weird celebrating about today's game too much with the way Paul was taken out on such questionable calls. I would absolutely hate for that to happen to Luka or even DFS again like what happened a couple games back where he was only allowed to play around 20 minutes

No he's not. The Mavs talent wise are a clear cut below every other team in the playoffs. They literally need everything they can get in order to move forward. He doesn't have the luxury of being surrounded by all stars that the other superstars have. He's relying on role players to step up and help if he isn't doing it all himself.

Also any player that doesn't flop is plain and simply putting their team at a disadvantage. The other team gets turnovers by playing to the edge of the rules, and you don't. You don't win anything for excellent sportsmanship.

Can't be too hard.

A player can fall down because the play he makes will bring him out of balance. Sometimes that's needed if you want to make a difficult shot or a contested layup. These plays are hard to fit in black and white rules to call a foul and are a matter of judgment, was their inappropriate contact yes or no. NBA refs have never been consistent in these calls and the challenge does only resolve the clear mistakes for a single time in a whole game.

Some ideas I can think of:
- Improve quality and consistency of refereeing. Players flop because they think they can get an advantage.
- Give each team 3 or 4 challenges and have them retain the challenge they won.
- Find a way to speed up the challenging process so you don't have to use a time-out, should not take more than one minute.
- Clear flopping is a technical foul. If the refs call this, they need to review the play to make sure they got it right. If a coach challenges a play and flopping is identified, they must call the technical.
- Have a team of refs/other people review the entire game post-game. If they identify flopping (acting on a contact to trick the referees) then give them a technical foul point. In the playoffs it is 6 technical fouls is an automatic suspension, right?

You can do a lot to get this out of the game, but you will not eliminate it entirely.
