I read comments about Steph Curry's shooting slump as an excuse for FVV shooting sub 40%.

Someone here told me OJ Mayo was flat out better than Mitch Richmond.

'You mean more talented?'
'No...better.'
'On, like his best day?'
'Every day'

I knew there were Kobe stans it could be hard to get a rational conversation out of, but OJ Mayo?

Anthony Randolph, AKA Baby Jesus, the next coming of a prime Amare/Garnett hybrid.

A Tennessee Vols fan tried to convince me that Admiral Schofield was more talented than Zion Williamson in 2019. I get that Zion has had his injury issues, but that's still a dumb opinion to hold three years later.

Really anything that comes out of Andre Iguodala's mouth would qualify for this thread.

2nd more baffling is using +/- as a player stat and saying things like "he was +25". Also extremely common, also I ignore it.

Depends on the context. If a player is a plus for 7 straight games and makes a few bone headed plays in game 7, but was still + that game. maybe just maybe he wasn't the ONLY guy who needs to get crapped on. Always more nuance and complexity, but pointing that out seems pretty fair. It's then on the person blaming that player to explain why it's wrong. And it could just be "well he only played with abc on the floor, and abc was the reason". Cool, good reasonable point (looking at your draymond). But I don't think it's something we should completely dismiss. It's additional data to consider.

I've never understood the "player x is only good because of Y. Other than that he's inferior." I remember reading it with Shaq and his size. Now I read it with Curry* and his shooting.

Even if it was true that Curry was only good because of his extreme shooting ability, the stats overwhelmingly make clear he is better than Kyrie. Who gives a crap if Kyrie is better at some other things? there is no bonus points for aesthetic.

* Curry is better at a lot of things than Kyrie besides shooting. But even accepting it is true it is a meaningless statement.

Not a comment, but in the Western Conference Finals against Houston I happened to have seats next to two young Rockets fans. We teased them a bit at the start of the game, but they were cool and we wished them a good game.

It was a close exciting game, but I noticed these two kids (a young couple) looking at their cell phones for half the game, at half time they leave for food and dont return until most of the way into the third quarter, and are instantly noses in phones.

My wife and I are like, why are these kids buying several hundred dollar tickets and not even paying attention to the basketball? Its been years and I still shake my head at it. Harden was balling like crazy and they dont even notice.
