I've not weighed in on this thread so far so no agenda here, but for those beating their chests, one good game against the Rockets (worst team in the league?) doesn't really change much.
His numbers for the season still stink and anyone who jacks 3s as unconsciously as he does is bound to have a couple amazing games.
Buddy Hield does that too.
Now I'm not calling him cooked, and I still think he can contribute in the playoffs, but IF he's not any better than he has been to start this season then he is not a guy you expect to help you win a championship. I think he will be better consistently, but the playoffs will be what matters not some November game in Houston lol.

If he comes back to form, then good for him...but if he reverts back then one good game will just continue the chucking for that much longer

There’s reason to believe that Klay is starting to come back to form, and it’s not because of one game. In his previous outing, he had 20 on 50% from the field and 40% from 3. He had 19 the game before that, although the percentage wasn’t great (3 threes on 33%).

I don’t expect Klay to continue this. He couldn’t do this consistently when he was at his best. But I think people were counting him out WAY too early and on too small of a sample size. Of course he wasn’t going to be great starting out. Two year layoff, as well as numerous games already missed this year as Kerr isn’t letting him play back to back sets… it was going to take a while if it did in fact happen. But I think it still definitely could. And all signs are pointing to him trending in the right direction.

Steph sensed it early and kept him fed...what a teammate.

If only he could play the Rockets every night, he'd be the MVP.

For those who haven't been watching, what made a big difference in Klay's last two games was his shot selection. For pretty much every previous game this season, Klay was trying to shoot his into a rhythm at pretty much any opportunity. Klay took pull-up threes, early shot-clock threes, transition threes in motion, pretty much anything and with no apparent regard for what was and was not a good shot.

There was apparently a conversation between Draymond, Klay, and the rest of the team that was something of a come to Jesus moment. Since then, Klay has mostly taken good shots and only taken risky ones when he's already hot, like he did in the fourth quarter. What's been particularly encouraging is that Klay has been passing up shots he would have been taking a few weeks ago in order to keep the ball moving. The first few minutes of the Warriors' game against the Knicks were super encouraging because he had a few looks coming off of pin-downs where he went up as if to fire the shot and brought defenders with him, only to pass the ball to Looney or Draymond cutting to the hoop, who would, in turn, kick the ball out to guys on the perimeter and get the ball hopping.

Klay's defensive effort and attention has been a lot better as well, especially off-ball. I think both of those things -- shot selection and defensive awareness -- are sustainable. I think Klay's conditioning has been getting better as well. He's not going to play back-to-backs this season, according to Steve Kerr. So I while I expect that his relatively advanced age will condemn him to inconsistency in the latter years of his career, I do think he can find a much high baseline for performance if he just... doesn't take dumb shots and makes an effort to be alert when he's defending off-ball.

Klay will always be a threat to score 30+ in the flow of the offense when the ball is moving. That won't be the norm and I never expect Klay of the 2019 Finals -- the dude who was running high PNR's and going ISO at the top of the key against an incredible Raptors defense -- to ever come back, but he can be one of the most deadly play finishers in basketball for the rest of his career if he wants to be.

Max deal for a player that only cooks against the worst teams in the league is still a bad contract. You can NEVER contend with a bad contract in the squad

Was it a better contract last year? Cause it seems like they contended then.
