This is the first season since he became an NBA candidate that his 2nd and 3rd option will both be available in the playoffs. Now we can appropriately judge his results in the playoffs. It's rather unfair to expect him alone to beat the best team in the league - if he was expected to win a ring last year (which is essentially what people are asking if they're asking him to beat the NBA champs), we're talking about GOAT single season carry job.

Unlike the stomping that Jokic's hyperefficient MVP got last post season right?

Oh wait...

And this is why Embiid won't be voted an allstar starter. His fans post stuff like this...

Yeah but when you look at top 10 to ever play the game. Winning does become a part of the equation. When the talent level is that high other factors are included and yes championships matter when it comes top 10. Differential factors do come in.

Winning is not the same was winning a title. If Jokic never wins a title because his teammates were just never good enough and he keeps up this play into this 30's. There's no rational reason he doesn't rank ahead of Bird, Magic, Hakeem...and even one of my favorite guys ever in Duncan. That's a huge if and I doubt it becomes reality. But as long as Jokic keeps up his play. As long as he keeps playing out of his mind in the playoffs. If he's losing because he's just playing a team that's far more talented, that's on his GM. Not on him.

If you can't see that, again....you do you. But I'd hate everything about sports at that point.

You may rank Jokic ahead of those guys but history definately won't. He will never be ranked historically above those guys if he never wins, that's just a fact. When you have players with that level of talent (and Jokic is not MORE talented than any of them at all), winning becomes the common denominator. Mainly because winning is not always about talent, and the playoffs you are facing the very best competition on a consistent basis, with defenses game planning to stop said elite players. Dirk beat the Heatles for example, so he justifiably moved up in the all time rankings because of that.

If Jokic wins a 3rd MVP, he'll have more MVPs than Curry/Kobe/Shaq/Duncan who have 18 rings between them, and where on dynasty teams. Jokic is going to get compared to those guys. If Jokic doesn't win no one will really care who is teammates were. That's just the cold reality.

You know how great Jokic is because he has so many people trying to discredit him and push back against the praise he gets, which mostly comes from hardcore fans and pundits.

The most amazing thing is that the dude literally does not give an f about triple doubles. When a reporter told him he's averaging one, he reacted like he was just told the weather for the next day is 10 degrees warmer. He could drop a triple single and be happy as long as they win.

You know what jokic cares about? Winning a chip. That’s why I think he will win. But right now he is not a top 10 player all time. Till he wins

During title runs
Duncan played alongside 4 HOFers in his career. Robinson, Parker, Manu, and Kawhi.
Curry played alongside 3 HOFers in his career. Klay, Dray, and KD. Possibly Iguodala, too.
Shaq played alongside 3 HOFers in his career. Penny, Kobe, Wade.
Kobe played alongside 2 HOFers in his career. Shaq, Pau. Possibly Artest, too.

If Jokic wins a title this year, it'll be the GOAT carry job in NBA history. *GET THIS* He'll have won a title with none of his teammates ever having been all-stars, let alone HOFers. A title this year would be equal to 3-4 titles because of the ridiculous nature in which it was won.

Even at 100% health, the Nuggets' 2nd/3rd options rank around 5th worst in the league. Hornets, Magic, Rockets Spurs are worse and all of them are trying to lose....

Murray and MJP are both realistically 15-20m/yr level players at league average injury rate.

I'm sick and tired of people acting like Jokic has no excuse of not competing this year, just because he gets his crappy 2nd and 3rd options back.

If he finishes w a triple dubb... I don't know if the league can handle this dude as a 3x mvp w no rings

Do you mean, without rings the average moron won't rank him highly? Because I don't really give a damn what some idiot thinks. History doesn't rank players. People do. And any RATIONAL ranking will be able to separate team from individual. The point of discussing rankings among serious sports fans is to avoid the traditional "stupid" rankings.

If someone doesn't care who Jokic's teammates were, then nobody with a functioning brain will care what those people think. At some point we all have to move past trying to help those who aren't willing to actually think about these things in reasonable and rational terms.

Not sure why this would jump past Hakeem in 94, Duncan in 03, or Dirk in 11. It might be in the conversation, but this isn't a terrible team if fully healthy. It isn't a great one either. And he'll have very good competition for a title, especially a potentially healthy boston.

The Nuggets are 17-0 this season when Jokic has a triple double. The article below was written before Jokic's triple double in Denver's February 2nd win over the Warriors.

OMG.........more STUPID!

No, getting a 1 freaking seed without another allstar is not a god dang failure! That's freaking ALL TIME AMAZING! That just doesn't happen often, and nobody on this team is even CLOSE to being an allstar level player.

There will come expectations with this team to do well in the playoffs and if they lose stupidly in the playoffs that's a reason to knock Jokic. But if they lose to Boston who's a better team? Or say Golden State figures their issues out? Nobody should or can rationally get upset!

Nuggets are frauds as a championship team. People really think bad back MPJ is going to defend enough in the playoffs and or Jokic will be able to defend enough in the playoffs ? Because I don’t. Not only that Jamal Murray as your go to guy down the stretch can work but not sure I’ve seen enough to trust him to make enough shots down the stretch. Jokic is great but let’s step on the breaks regarding his video game numbers.

Jokic is not a dominant player like Shaq was in the early 2000s. My eyes don’t lie to me.

Suns were a first seed without 2 all stars , I could be wrong. The Dallas Mavericks were a 1 seed in the late 2010s . So what ? Having number 1 seed is not the end all be all.

He made a very reasonable counter and you comeback with a jab about Embiid, because you know it was true. You should laugh at yourself. Also embiid never had a teammate dropping multiple 50 point games and taking over as the leading scorer on his team in the playoffs. Jokic did in his historic 1 trip to the WCF, where they had the luxury of coming back from 3-1 twice without having to play road elimination games.

Let me get this straight, you're arguing that Jamal Murray is a better player than Jimmy Butler and James Harden? You don't think either of those guys could take over as a leading scorer in the playoffs?

And how is Jokic losing in the playoffs without the second and third best players to the eventual champs a reasonable argument exactly?

3 MVPs puts Jokic in the HOF if not already in as an international player. I think he will now be defined by championships.
