5 seconds really isn't that much...

In fact, my wife says it's downright pathetic!

Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week. Try the Darvin Ham!

He's an expiring too, could've just waited till the off-season to sign him.

Bucks want him for the playoffs

And now have his bird rights

That's the whole point of trading for another player during the season, they get to play for you right now.

Second round picks at the very end of the draft are just slightly more valuable than the rights to signing an undrafted free agent which are abundantly available to every team for free in unlimited quantities every year.

Second round picks are kind of like buying a bag of potting soil and viewing it as a real estate investment.

Meh, obviously there are always sleepers late in the draft. Claxton was a 2nd rounder, Cam Thomas was a late 1st, DFS was undrafted, Dinwiddie was a a 2nd rounder and G leaguer that the Nets turned into a near All-Star. Jarrett Allen before that was a late 1st rounder.

Whatever the criticisms of the Nets’ current front office, they’ve been consistently great at finding and developing gems late in the draft or off the scrap heap. So 5 second rounders in the hands of competent scouting and development isn’t nothing, especially since it was for Jae Crowder…pretty sure the Nets can find at least one player out of those 5 picks that are as useful as a 32 year old 3/D wing who doesn’t do either of those things all that well.

Yes, but we are not talking about just any 2nd rounders or late 1st round picks. We are talking about picks 55-60, which are very close to being undrafted free agents. When you cite Claxton (pick 31), Thomas (pick 27), Allen (pick 22) and Dinwiddie (pick 38) you are talking about talent that would not be available 55-60. 2023 picks 55-60 might be developed into a serviceable NBA player somewhere down the road, but they will be of zero value to a team trying to win a championship decided weeks before that draft.

Fans can quibble over how to characterize Crowder's basketball ability, but he is good enough to start 67 games last season for the team that won 64 games and had the best record in the NBA.

The Bucks have two of the best perimeter defenders in the league on the roster.

Jevon Carter isn’t going to play heavy minutes in the playoffs because he’s too much of a negative offensively. Also he’s tiny and against a team like the Celtics that loves nothing more than going mismatch hunting with Jayson Tatum he’s going to be a liability on the defensive end as well.

Jrue is legitimately an elite perimeter defender, but he’s much better guarding up against larger 2s and wings than he is chasing around small guards. It’s just kind of a waste of his skillset.

How can you make this post while not liking the trade for the Bucks?

He's awful. I don't think he'll ever get it mentally which means he's not an NBA player.

You're right sorry, I was thinking of Beauchamp I like that guy if he can develop for MIL

I don’t get why you don’t just play while quietly demanding a trade

Or why he didn't get himself in shape knowing he'd be traded at the deadline. I just read that Marquette and Georgia Tech both offered to let him play 5-on-5 with their teams but he declined.

He looked pretty washed in last year's playoffs to me.
I thought the time off would maybe do him some good physically, but probably not if he's not been staying in shape.

Could be the case, but I suppose I wouldn't put too much stock into this. Milwaukee is notoriously conservative on this side of things. They played PJ in '21 right out of the gate, and he went down right away. Would assume he'll have to hit fitness benchmarks before anything happens and then there will be a ramp up. Middleton himself has gone from 15 minutes off the bench to under 25 over the last 10 games or so. They won't rush him.

Where will Ibaka go ? He's been servicable as a backup vet.
