You're not even brave enough to put up your favorite team on your profile. You must be one of those player fans.

Lebron owned my franchise as well. I think MJ had something to do with that though. :D

You win. I can't be mad at anyone who sticks around for that.

That's crazy to me. You guys really don't see the vision. In 20 years the only thing more valuable will be a chip or maybe a conference finals trophy

You guys do realize it's primarily gonna be contenders in the mix for the top 4 right. Bad teams are gonna get smoked during seeding because good teams that are healthy to start the season will save their energy for IST games.

I do agree with your 2nd paragraph. In terms of value it’s almost certainly not as good as getting to the finals. I would say slightly less than getting to the conference finals. But I could see it added to a player’s accolades in the same way as all star games and olympic medals are. It’s another number.

I think winning a playoff series is much more valuable. This is meaningless. You only have to win 3 games.

For the record to get to the tourney they beat Portland, Memphis, Utah and a Booker-less Phoenix. Being in that bracket helped Phx make it too, playing the 3 worst teams in the west (aside from SA) for 3 out of your 4 games.

Yep didn’t have to play Denver, Philly to name a few that waxed them.

If this becomes a thing then these will be tracked and remembered. Where random playoff series victories with no championship will not really be remembered. No one gives a sh*t who won in the first round 10 years ago. But if the IST becomes a thing then winners will be tracked going forward. Only time will tell of course

I disagree on a few levels:
1. The players bought into it - they clearly care about it and the competitive nature of the tournament (overall it drew viewership for the league and incentive for the players to go harder). Needs some tweaks but it is a success
2. If the lakers lost, people would be making a huge deal out of it for lebron. Now they have lebron winning remorse. See the bubble playoff run for details.
3. It gives younger teams a chance to see what the playoff vibe is about early on. Good test for the pacers who I don't doubt will be back there next year (and even stronger).

Therefore it certainly means something. Dismissing it to me is just noise from a silent minority.

Doesn't matter. Real hoopers ball when the lights are brightest. We can excuse Denver for injury reasons but the other chokers that are LeBron's current contemporaries show why Elimination Game James is in a class of his own
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

It clearly was designed as the Lebron Invitational the same way the All-Star Game has become the Lebron Co-Branding Enterprise but the dude won it. AD should've been MVP, though.

It got players to play hard, brought some eyeballs, and killed some of the "regular season doesn't matter" junk for a few weeks, so that's good. I think it will remain relevant in the future because of the tone set here, and let's face it, Lebron was a prime factor in making it important, because he is invested in the future of the league and his own legacy. As he moves into ownership he will continue to push its importance because it's good business and a good competitive idea.

They'll probably name the tournament and trophy after Lebron when he's done.

It depends on the situation. I'm not sure a first round win against a weak low seed is more impressive for example. In both cases its the luck if the draw. If Pacers won they would have had to go through Celtics, Bucks and Lakers.

No this means absolutely nothing for his legacy. Lakers beat Blazers, Jazz, Grizzlies, Pelicans, Suns, Pacers for a combined record of 55-74! A combined win %age of 42%.

They beat the current 7th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th spots in the west, and a 5th seed Pacers. No opponent even in the top 4.

In a tournament created to increase the competitiveness of the league because it has become a watered down product so much so that the commissioner needed to bribe the players with 1/2 a million dollars to play harder. And you're telling me this will add to his legacy. What a joke.

Listen I know LeBron stans are annoying and I’m one of them, but I actually like the guy so I talk about him. I can’t imagine hating someone and talking/thinking about them just as much.

Who **** cares if it impacts his "legacy"? How many times are people going to ponder utterly pointless questions like this anyways?
