Ah yes, every coach who never won a ring should be dismissed as knowing nothing about basketball.

What an absolute HACK Jerry Sloan was amirite? A glorified assistant coach in my eyes. Don Nelson shouldn't even be allowed to coach in a YMCA house league.

Edit: I just remembered to add Jeff Van Gundy, D'Antoni, and Tom Thibodeau as idiot head coaches.

I'd look at Russ for a lot of the non-jokic minutes. Surround him with guys like Braun, Gordon, MPJ. Athletic squad who can run and shoot and he will put up his numbers and make a big impact.

Great zero risk move for Denver.

There are no shooter around him. Denver was dead last in three pointers attempted per game last year. Losing KCP, one of the least reluctant shooters on a team of reluctant shooters and adding Westbrook does nothing to help this. It makes it worse.

Do you think that Westbrook is going to be better or worse than Reggie Jackson next season?

I think Westbrook is better in a vacuum, but I think Reggie Jackson was a better fit because at least he had to be respected as a three point shooter. Teams will just dare Westbrook to shoot and play back, making it harder for everyone else. Terrible fit for a team that already shot less three's than anyone. Probably a wash for that reason as Westbrook is less than the sum of his value on the Nuggets IMO.

Jerry Sloan (RIP) didnt feel the incessant need to chime in constantly with horrible opinions once he retired. Don Nelson sucks by the way. Jeff Van Gundy also sucks, and was also a **** commentator.... as was Mark Jackson, you might as well have added him to your list. Glad theyre both gone from media life.

Thibs I do think is a pretty good coach, and hes still coaching so we dont know if he will or wont ever win a title so he doesnt really belong on your list.

I think it'll work out well for Denver.

WB has proven these past couple seasons that he's willing to accept, and play well in, a more limited role.

Jokic will set him up for a bunch of easy layups too. He's basically a smaller Aaron Gordon in this team, defense/rebound/layups.

Still need another shooter/big.

Nuggets:

Murray......Westbrook......Pickett
Braun........Strawther........Tyson
Porter.......Watson............Nnaji
Gordon.....Cancar?...........(Holmes)
Jokic.........Saric...............Jordan

Two-way.....Alexander, Hall

Braun is good but he has to expand his dribble, pass, shoot abilities.

Strawther is a serious scorer who looks ready.

Watson is a fantastic athlete and defender who needs to work on the same things Braun does.

Cancar is coming off an ACL. Before he got hurt, he looked like he might be ready to be a real rotation player.

Pickett looks like a bust at the moment IMO.

Tyson is an excellent shooter but may never be a rotation player.

Nnaji is probably on the trade block.

Alexander looks like a steal at guard. If I were the team I would think about dumping Pickett or Tyson and signing Alexander to a regular roster contract.
Jokic 31/21/22
Luka & Oscar = 5 x 27/8/8
The Brodie = All-out energy

From a percentage standpoint they are middle of the pack.

KCP actually didn't attempt a whole lot. Will be interesting to see if Braun can just fill that role, my guess is he can. Another year + Increased role for Strawther who was one of their highest per 36 3pt shooters but i'll admit he needs to increase his efficiency. And they added Saric to stretch the bench.

Reggie was awful in the playoffs. Even if Russ can't stretch he will provide more than Jackson was able to.

I don't necessarily see how this works out. Westbrook coming off the bench to lead the second unit? He's not the shooter that the departed Reggie Jackson was, but he definitely can fill up the box score even now in his twilight years, albeit not from range but from hard charges to the basket.

This one is most certainly a head scratcher for me. I suppose we'll get to see how well he fits or doesn't fit soon enough.

Lots of discussion on Russ to Denver but almost nothing for Dunn to the Clippers. As a guy that is not really familiar with Dunn's work, what should Clipper fans expect from him? Does his acquisition improve them or make them worse? How?

For a team that’s capped out and has a cheap ownership group they NEED these second round picks they’re spending on older college players to turn into rotation players to remain competitors.

If Denver is signing up for a future where they only have like 5 real NBA players on the roster and then is going to try to fill the gaps with washed up vets I don’t see them contending for titles.

Hitting on late picks to be nice but Jalen Pickett isn’t happening and it’s smart they aren’t banking on him. Honestly I’m pretty down on any of Denver’s recent draft picks turning into good rotation players with Holmes being the exception

Julien Strawther was starting to come along up until his injury. The Nuggets are high on him. He is the backup SG.

In my opinion, the Thunder, Mavs, and Wolves are all going to be better next year. Their 3 pt shooting and perimeter deference will be a lot worse next year, and it will need to be offset by some much-improved bench play.

Braun shot 38 from three last year and plays excellent physical defense. Watson is probably the best athletic defender the Nuggets have. He is going to be huge from him next year. Strawther was a great shooter in college. People on sleeping on the Nuggets youth.

TBF, we picked him up as a buyout candidate, then re-signed him to a 2 year deal. He played a year on that contract, next season we traded for Harden which really made him obsolete.
