Straight up booty cheek dog water swamp paste level signing him until he's 38. PG says it's all about winning, but it was more about finding that one sucker that would give him his final huge contract.

Embiid being cooked doesn't help the situation at all though, maybe he should hit up the med team that reconstructed Lonzo's knee or something. But regardless, if PG were playing with a healthy Embiid, it'd probably be pretty similar to last year with the Clippers for PG when Harden was playing out of his mind and making PG look great. The same benefits that Norm Powell is now receiving.

With a healthy Embiid PG would be having a good season. He'd be benefitting from all those doubles Embiid attracts, that aren't happening as much now or at all.

I’ve mentioned before that maybe Embiid should get the same surgery Lonzo got. At the current pace they are going the Sixers are screwed for the next 4.5 seasons (length of Embiid’s contract). It appears he has degenerative knee issues which don’t get better over time. It might be best for them let Embiid get cartilage replacement, miss the next 1.5 seasons and hope he’s back to all-star form after. It’s seems like the Sixers 2 options are “be screwed for the next 4.5 seasons” or “throw away next year and hope Embiid is healthy again after surgery”. Neither are good solutions but the current path looks grim and could get worse. Embiid is on that Brandon Roy path where he could just be done in a year or two.

Bingo. Morey’s reputation as this genius GM was really only due to his getting deal of getting Harden to Houston. He’s been riding that for a decade, tried to rerun it which was an unmitigated disaster.

Outside of getting Harden in Houston, every other “star” deal he made for both Houston and Philly has produced nothing of significance…

Dwight Howard?
Chris Paul?
Russell Westbrook?
Carmelo Anthony?

All still very big names when Morey was able to bring them in to Houston, but they did less than nothing… CP might have been the best pairing but the rest of the roster for Houston was just not there, and now we’re seeing the same thing in Philly.

i don't think morey's ever had a losing season as an exec. he's retooled teams multiple times and never had a bad season. that's almost an impossible thing to do.

I predicted it. As did a bunch of other posters.

The dude was turning 34 and has had one of the most injury-plagued careers you'll ever see. Handing him anything more than a 2-year contract was always going to be a mistake.

He got Harden the same way Pelinka got Luka. Cheap owners decided to dump their superstar for a bag of chips.

That’s not that impressive tbh.

Selling out a complete roster for stars will keep teams competitive.

Having a bad year plus keeps saying dumb stuff/podcasting during the season while getting paid that huge contract... Clips have their own problems but damn that's a bad look.

I still remember the summer Isaiah Joe was release by the Sixers, Morey went on the Rights to Ricky Sanchez pod and basically said an open roster spot was better than he was. Didn't even give Joe a chance.

This is actually fantastic news for Philly fans. Depending on the return, they can start the retool around Maxey, McCain and a potential top 6 pick .

Leave him there to rot.

There’s some dumb GM’s out there but no one is dumb enough to trade for that contract.

What return are you expecting? A 50 year old obese prostitute with gonorrhea?

They would probably have to trade Maxey, McCain and a top 6 pick just to get someone to take PG13.

Bulls trade Vuc/Huerter/PWill/#11 pick for PG13/#6 pick

Philly saves serious long term money and gets important depth. Vuc is an awesome back up C/can play big minutes when Embiid sits
Huerter looks cured and is playing solid ball for Chi/PWill somehow has talent but might need a fresh start

Bulls roll the dice on PG13 and move up in the draft
White/Ayo/Carter
Giddy/Ball
PG13/Phillips
Matas
Collins/Smith
Plus the #6 pick (BPA, hopefully a forward)

Looking at it, that's a stupid idea

Worst contract in the league and I'm not sure there's much debate anymore. Good luck Philly.

Chilluminati had it right. Sixers never cared if PG was overpaid in year 3 or 4, the move was predicated on making a real run in the next couple years with a two-way player who fit really well next to Embiid and Maxey. The move looks like a disaster now because the worst case scenario happened right away, and anyone saying they 'knew' that was going to happen right after the season PG had last year is making ish up or was just throwing out some random guess. He played in 90% of RS games last year and was very good on both ends.

Everyone knew it was a risky signing. But don't need to come out of the woodwork every time a risky move turns out good or bad to take 'credit' for pointing out that the move was risky.
