It's not really a double standard. WB and Jokic triple-doubles had different contexts. WB got his by mad hustle and being very ball dominant, at lot of times he forced it. Whereas Jokic gets his almost casually.

That was mostly because he was shooting in volume at weak percentages, just gunning. Westie gets a lot of credit for his shot creation and rebounding; it's his scoring which was generally frowned upon.

As I've said for years now, the only current modern player that I have breaking into my top 10 list. He keeps coming, defying every 'advanced era' superiority notion of today showing that BBall IQ trumps all. I only wish that I could see him and Luka team up before he hangs them up. Boy, would the league go wild over that one ;)

Wish there was a single Suns player who's not a defensive embarrassment lol. What kind of defense is this ? Hey Joker, do you want 3 points or an assist..

I was going to say that these are video game numbers, but they even seem outlandish even for video game numbers. Insane.

First EVER 30/20/20 game in the history of the NBA

Post#110 » by JM00n69 » Sat Mar 8, 2025 2:33 pm

Let's give some props to the guy. He's having an all time peak currently and is in year 5 of being the best player in the league. He's passed MJ and LBJ as the best individial season of all time a few years ago and he is still topping that this year. Doing it without Pippen/Wade/Kobe/Kareem on his team and still 0 all star team mates.

He's just registered a line even Wilt didn't have. The first ever 30/20/20 and it looked like another day on the court for him. Give the man his flowers, he might not want them but he sure as hell deserves them.

Think you forgot something, when you make a thread don’t just refer to X player simply as “he”

Will it be enough for Mark Jackson to consider Nikola a top-5 MVP candidate?

it's pretty remarkable. However, this is the weakest era for centers in NBA history and the weakest era for basketball in general tbh so offensive numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt. It's like how 5k yards in a season by QBs used to be rare. Marino was the first to do it in 1984. Then it didn't happen again until the late 90s after rules changes and since, it's been done like 14 times. Just completely different sports.

Westbrook USG in 2016-17- 41.7
Jokic USG in 2024-25- 29.2

But tell me again how they are the same…

Jokic is a stat chaser. Only reason he got this stat line is because he blew the lead against the tanking Suns and went to OT. A lot of his assists were also just passes to red hot shooters. Dominated the ball so he benefited from just dumping it to a flaming red roster. People used to rag about Westbrook stat padding, but Jokic puts him to shame. Great player, just like peak Russ was, but massively overrated by analytics.

No need in this case. I think people around here recognize an obvious Brian Skinner thread when they see one.

/s....?
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.
