First person to write Memphis.

They should be number one in my opinion. They just showed everyone the future of how to operate in the new CBA. Traded their third best player for a haul of picks. Great scouting, great development system. Excellent draft as usual. I’m not convinced they have the right two players to build around, but this is the template moving forward. Pay close attention.

They also then turned around and gave $50 mill per to JJJ. Even before we found out that he was hiding an injury, that was a bad deal.

I don’t love the Ja + JJJ core. Everything else is excellent.

QFT

( is this still a thing? )

Lmao, I remember pondering about QFT in the past 6 months. Glad I'm not the only one but I guess we just aged ourselves.

Knicks fired the best coach they've had this millennium and replaced him with a guy who wasn't good enough to finish out the season for the Kings.

Now that Jonas is apparently seriously considering playing Greece I might have to re-think my choice. Sure the other acquisitions were good but the main issue is not wearing out Jokic due to not having a dependable backup.

I think its the lack of moves. Theyre locked hard onto a treadmill.

Yeah, but don't worry, we're also taking a long hard look at Ben **** Simmons to solidify our bench....

Well there’s a strong argument that they accomplished a rare feat. in subtraction by addition.

Guess what, with Myles Turner signing in Milwaukee, you now have a serious hole in the center market

Suddenly Ayton doesn't seem like the sure thing, he might want to go to Indiana where he was wanted and where guys seem to do a great job building value.

That leaves Al Horford as the best center on the market, which he has no business being a starting center in 2026.

Or they are forced to make a trade, which IMO is the smart thing here. They might have to trade Reaves.

And suddenly Ayton is a Laker. Lakers looking good so far.

Their move was Ingram at the deadline. But I appreciate that fans of other teams aren't following closely and will react to the FA in isolation.

Biggest winners were OKC they just signed SGA to an extension. Everyone else including my Lakers are just playing catch up.

The Magic definitely paid full market rate (or more) in terms of draft picks sacrificed, but if you look at just what they've done in terms of upgrading their rotation, turning KCP and Cole Anthony into Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones certainly feels like a significant upgrade on paper at starting SG/backup PG.

Winners
Rockets and Magic will be contenders in the East and West.

Grizzlies and Hawks are middle of the pack teams but they have so much flexibility going foward. Grizzlies have the suns pick and the Hawks have the pelicans pick which a cherry on top.

Losers
Celtics like it or not this is a tank team because of the new Cba and the injury.

Pelicans making a win now move is just so hard to understand but maybe they know something we don't.

Yeah, they've seen guys like Ayton before in LAL. He's basically got Dwight Howard's work ethic and personality with Drummond's talent level...

I do understand that Ayton is pretty much a sexier-on-paper Vucevic (though Vucevic rarely misses games). But, Ayton is still a MAJOR upgrade from Jaxson Hayes and Alex Len. Portland is gonna be footing the bill to put LAL over the hump
Alex Len?!?

How old is he, 47?

How are the Celtics a loser? They fully Chose one direction and are resetting after the Tatum injury. They didn’t try to overpay and retain any role players to chase a 1st or 2’d round exit. Additionally, they shed salary to navigate the salary cap and got Some decent assets like Anfernee Simmons and picks to potentially pick up someone mid season who could help next year. They clearly picked a direction during a lost year and set themselves up to maximize that. They have a winning year that will probably materialize in 1-2 years
