Walker Kessler, who is revolutionizing the game with his stifling defense, visionary playmaking, and stellar shooting (eFG% and TS% both over 1). He will never miss another shot from the field or the arc.

If SGA shoots 1600 FT I got him winning it.

I think SGA is out to a very early lead

Jokic has started this season fat and way out of shape. And he played euros. Very very disappointing.

Jokic looks out of shape and I think voters will be hesitant to give SGA a second straight award given his style of play. Also, teams are going AT the Thunder so far and I think that will wear them a bit. It's Wemby Time in the NBA.

Agree with the last 2 posts, including this one: Jokic looks like he ate everything Luka lost.

If the Thunder win the West with Jalen Williams missing a significant number of games (say 15<), there is just no way SGA doesn't get a 2nd straight MVP.

People are rushing to crown Wembanyama but, as I said in a previous post, so long as Jokic and SGA qualify and their teams are above 50 wins, it's a two-horse race. (Let's not forget Luka Doncic averaged 34-10a-9r for a 50-win Mavs team and he finished 3rd in MVP voting behind 57-win Denver and OKC.)

My view is that Wembanyama needs San Antonio to win 50< games and his numbers need to be on par with Giannis and Joker to have any shot at supplanting them, let alone SGA. If that happens -- especially if Sochan and Fox miss significant time -- then Wembanyama likely finishes ahead of Giannis and possibly Jokic, depending on Denver's record.

While it's SUPER early, I'll throw another name in the ring here: Steph Curry. If Golden State wins ~55 games, he has to get heavy consideration.

Poor defensive outing from Jokic.

He did have one huge, potentially game-saving steal on Curry late in crunch time.

The biggest issue was that he needs to not shoot 2-12 from three. I.e., either make them or go inside.

But I do agree with your point - just adding context.

I also think voters want to pass the torch each year. You are correct about teams giving the Thunder all they've got. Serms like the Thundrt have played 2 playoff games so far.

If Luka can get 45 wins out of that roster, give him MVP.

People are skeptical the Spurs will be good enough for Wemby to win MVP.

Skeptical or not - wemby is the best defensive player and a top 5 offensive guy - it’s kinda a wrap -

Jokic best offensive guy by a mile but wemby is best defensive by a solar system.

It’s still a 5 man race - Luka, wemby, jokic, Giannis and SGA but so far it’s wemby threw 2 lol

Good god I missed you guys and these stupid debates

Giannis will average more than 14-15 boards this season with Turner at the 5.
Turner looks like a younger version of Brook Lopez. He's the same player.
Boxing out so that Giannis gets the boards.
Rim protection and 3pt shooting to empty the paint.
It's like watching Brook Lopez in 2019.

I think NBA is desperate to have new local american stars but they can't even manufacture that because how weak america's lineup is. The new reign hasn't really changed and three of the best (somewhat young) players are not americans so that's huge minus for the league's longeativity in local market and the best american guy plays on the small market and weirdly hated by the media because he actually likes it there and doesn't want to force his way into disaster of LA or NY... But maybe it's hate because he is canadian after all :-?

So honestly if Minnesota can be at all competitive I could see desperate attempt by the media to lift Edwards into the picture considering all the SGA hate we have had... But maybe they are over it now that they realize how weak American players have been in last few years. It has been almost a decade when the last strong MVPs came from usa with Harden and Westbrook and honestly without these kind of BS narratives I just don't see it happening for next several years.

Yes, I remember the daily media frenzy full of hatred when Steve Nash was winning MVPs over three of the most popular NBA players in history in the enormous market that is Phoenix.
