No one does a flip either, doesn't make it illegal. And did this thread not originate because a player does it a lot? Could've sworn that was the case. Could've sworn there was a video posted of said player doing it to.

Clearly this guy isn't going to backdown however wrong his is. There's six pages of people disagreeing with him and telling him he's wrong and that hasn't put a dent in him. Some people just won't look at facts.

Re: The Kobe Step Through
It's actually been a pretty even split so far.
Again, if all Kobe does is just like that replay, then it's not a big deal. He was fairly close to jumping off both feet at the same time. But anything more than that is a travel. It will get called if it's clear enough. That's why no one does it...

So that's what the rules say, if your feet are kinda close to leaving at the same time it's not a travel? Right. Do you have any proof, any facts, to back up your position? The rules are very clear. All you've said is that it's common sense and that nobody does it. These are not valid arguments.
btw, here's a pic of that Kobe play where he's close enough for you: http://i44.tinypic.com/20t3z1i.png

Buts its true that everyone does do it. It may be a travel "technically," but they arent going to call a travel on Kobe, wade, bron, etc.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. I already discussed that. I said that because he's Kobe, and because it happened so quickly in one motion, it wasn't called. Perhaps Kobe trying to do anything more obvious than that will get called. Or perhaps a lesser player trying to do the same thing will get called. But they rarely attempt that, if ever at all intentionally, because as I said, THEY KNOW IT'S A TRAVEL.

Re: The Kobe Step Through
In the post I quoted you said "it's not a big deal" and "anything more than that is a travel". So it kinda sounds like you were saying it isn't a travel. And it's not, whether it's Kobe Bryant or Coby Karl. You can say in caps that it's a travel all you want, but it's not. You've made a solid half dozen responses to me in a row now where I've asked you for some facts to back up your claim and you've yet to provide any.

Re: The Kobe Step Through
How about the dozens of videos that you can find online of NBA players that know how to properly pivot and use the up and under move or the step through? Answer this question for me. If this were legal, you definitely gain advantage from using that move, right? Just like your friend. What I can't seem to understand is why NBA players wouldn't want this advantage? You would expect them to use it all the time to give them that edge. Hmm, maybe they just don't like advantages...

Kobe and Lebron don't travel or foul. Stern told me this.

Re: The Kobe Step Through
Because it feels unnatural. I've tried to do it some times, and it just doesn't feel right. It's like you're going up for a layup, but you're not jumping with as much power.
And once again when asked for facts to back up your opinion you have given none.

It's because the move is incredibly tough to pull off. It throws off your balance when you pivot that way and it's hard to get it right.

Not really, as long as the foot you're jumping off of is the foot that you normally would. If you're right-handed and pivoting with your right foot, then jumping off of your left foot would be no different then any shot you would take jumping off that foot. Except for maybe not getting a running start, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm imagining doing this move and it's just ridiculous. Not because it doesn't feel right, but because I could be stuck in the middle of the lane, probably a good 10 feet away from the basket, and end up with an easy lay up. Can't wait to have an entire group of people laugh at me when I try that in a game. I'll just tell them some people on RealGM say that it's legal...

wow...that's the only thing you said in the last 5 pages that wasn't the same thing that you kept repeating over and over in order to dodge other ppl's arguments.
