I wonder if this has to do with the different strains of the coronavirus.

My guess is that it has to do with people being dumb and believing in stupid conspiracies

USA confirmed cases from last night went from 64,675 to 83,545 confirmed cases as of right now. USA (recoveries) was at 616 this morning at 7:55 am and the USA has 1864(recovered). Me was hoping the USA could reach 1000 recovered by midnight and now we are getting close to 2000 recovered. USA is now #1 in the world with the most confirmed cases.

Florida has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 1977 confirmed cases( Florida has 0 recovered) 0
California has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 2617 confirmed cases
Illinois- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 1865 confirmed cases
Michigan- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 2295 confirmed cases
New Jersey- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 4402 confirmed cases
Washington- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 2469 confirmed cases

Now if Florida, California, Illinois, Michigan,Washington and New Jersey can remain at their total confirmed case number for consecutive days, Than maybe hopefully these states have reached their peak and they could be on a downward sharp drop.

New York had a jump from a little over 30,000 confirmed cases to 37,258 confirmed cases.

The confirmed cases for each state hasn't been updated on that bing site. Others like worldometers show much higher numbers. CA is at nearly 4000 confirmed cases and NJ is nearly 7000. Gonna keep going up with more testing.

Yes I have to update now from 8pm eastern time when I last checked

Florida increased from 1977 confirmed cases to 2485
California increased from 2617 to 3006
Illinois increased from 1865 to 2538
Michigan increased from 2295 to 2856
New Jersey increased from 4402 to 6876
Washington increased from 2469 to 3207

New York is still at 37,258 confirmed cases

It sucks looking at New york the state I was born and than looking at my state that I live Florida and Florida still has 0 RECOVERIES.

i said this earlier but these are blind numbers. increased positives just means more testing is going on, that's it. these aren't new cases growing - these are just more tests happening of the public. i think this virus has had a free run throughout the US for at least 2 months. millions and millions have it. and then of course you have some states that refused to shut down at all. the arrogance on display by the US is just so damn mindboggling. look at italy right now. look at spain. some of the bigger cities may be able to somewhat handle the soon to be influx of emergency patients (but most likely not) - what about the smaller cities and towns? no way they are ready for this. and the administration is entertaining ideas of opening up soon? i'm just in a state of shock over this.

the #'s that matter the most in this whole thing is finding out how many people have it in total (symptomatic and asymptomatic) and how many people had it (anti body testing). that gives a definitive indicator on how widespread and dangerous this really is. i am hoping for the best but all signs/factors/everything are pointing to sh t hitting the fan in 2-3 weeks.

No, it does not. The virus killing people has to do with exposure to certain demographic risk factors like heart disease. There is no cure for the virus. There is no real treatment for serious symptoms. People getting intubated and going on ventilators? Yeah that's not good.

It's all exposure and we've done really bad. We're first for cases with very limited testing. The more people are exposed, the higher the chance it spreads to someone who can't combat the virus. That's the problem.

That's interesting. Do you have any data to back up the claim that the Americans that are getting Covid19 are younger/healthier, on average, than those in other countries? I can buy Italy. They have a population with a more advanced age. They also smoke more, which compromises their lungs.

I also don't get your logic by "we are first for cases with very limited testing". The United States has actually tested more than any other country. Now you can argue that is because of the volume of citizens we have, however that would then undercut worries about being "#1" in confirmed cases.

I think the the mortality rate in this country is actually pretty good. Right now we have 85,377 confirmed cases with 1,295 deaths. That brings our mortality rate to 0.015 or 1.5%. That is obviously not the actual number as the number of confirmed cases is significantly less than the number of actual cases out there. I expect that mortality rate to drop even more as the testing comes in.

Arrogance? No, it's confidence. We have a **** robot on Mars and we crush the Olympics every time. The entire world listens to our music, watches our movies, wears our clothes, and follows our NBA.

Good luck and stay positive. You are The Diesel, you crush this thing.

In our country you can get to the test in 2 ways : Either you get a permit from your GP after a brief exam or even a phone call and you go to one of the hots spots, where you will get a test or you can call directly to the county epidemiogy station (guess thats the closest translation) and if they deem necessary one of the ambulances that drives around specifically with testing will come to you. The wait depends where exactly do you live, but mostly its 2-3 days. I was tested yesterday. We do about 4-5k tests per day going up, which I think is ok.

If I indeed do have it, it appears to be mild, Iam a 5th year med student (med school here takes 6 years) and we are starting to be called to the hospitals to help and I felt the responsible thing to do was to get tested. Thanks for your kind words.

I agree, though I don't think many countries have nearly all their cases confirmed. Obviously South Korea and some other places are doing better, but I've long felt the US #s are vastly understated. There is really no good way to gauge how many have it either. If the death #s were accurate, though we know they are understated too, you could try to use a certain death rate and work backwards, maybe using 3 weeks (or at least 2 weeks). Like say you used 1%, with 1,292 dead, you could say at least 2-3 weeks ago we had at least 129,200 infected. However 3 weeks ago we were reporting 158 infected total. 2 weeks ago it was 1,300.

So with those our confirmed cases were likely around 1% of real cases a 2-3 weeks ago. We may be better than reporting only 1% now, but if 1% still was about right, we'd be over 8.5 million infected.

That sounds like a lot but it's still less than 3% of the population.

i said this earlier but these are blind numbers. increased positives just means more testing is going on, that's it. these aren't new cases growing - these are just more tests happening of the public. i think this virus has had a free run throughout the US for at least 2 months. millions and millions have it. and then of course you have some states that refused to shut down at all. the arrogance on display by the US is just so damn mindboggling. look at italy right now. look at spain. some of the bigger cities may be able to somewhat handle the soon to be influx of emergency patients (but most likely not) - what about the smaller cities and towns? no way they are ready for this. and the administration is entertaining ideas of opening up soon? i'm just in a state of shock over this.

the #'s that matter the most in this whole thing is finding out how many people have it in total (symptomatic and asymptomatic) and how many people had it (anti body testing). that gives a definitive indicator on how widespread and dangerous this really is. i am hoping for the best but all signs/factors/everything are pointing to sh t hitting the fan in 2-3 weeks.

Arrogance? No, it's confidence. We have a **** robot on Mars and we crush the Olympics every time. The entire world listens to our music, watches our movies, wears our clothes, and follows our NBA.

If anyone can beat this thing, it's us.

u may not realize it, now, and possibly after either. but this is the exact type of thinking that has rendered the States to be fighting an uphill battle. Its the very epitome of it. Good ol classic American made Hubris.

ill quote yesterdays atlantic article and implore u to read that . u can use that as my retort for whatever u have to say next. im sure u have lots.

Aspects of America’s identity may need rethinking after COVID-19. Many of the country’s values have seemed to work against it during the pandemic. Its individualism, exceptionalism, and tendency to equate doing whatever you want with an act of resistance meant that when it came time to save lives and stay indoors, some people flocked to bars and clubs. Having internalized years of anti-terrorism messaging following 9/11, Americans resolved to not live in fear. But SARS-CoV-2 has no interest in their terror, only their cells.

Man, AZ has over a 60% positive testing rate right now. https://coronavirus.1point3acres.com/en/test?state=AZ

A lot of places are under 10%..Florida, Texas....California is under 4%.

Might not be contributing to this topic but i find it incredibly fascinating the evolution of how people reacted to this virus. For example a guy at my work when this virus was starting to get traction was going around pissed of calling people idiots for freaking out about a virus being compared to the Flu. Fast forward to this week and he basically goes around talking about Covid-19 nonstop. Asking about where he can get a mask and telling people to pray. I wonder how many of those guys there are around the world. Who went around dismissing the virus only to get a big shaft in the end. I'll never understand that kind of mentality.
