Honestly, i spent last 30 minutes trying to figure out how to take prt screen since all I get is black screen of a video from my sports provider, no success...
... but I wanted to show how hilarious, and I dont mean bad, but funny Croatia's defense was when Giannis had the ball 16 feet out facing up. Basically all five Croatian players kind off collapses, 3 standing in a half circle, surrounding Giannis and blocking driving lanes, 2 others kind off defending off ball players who are spotting at a 3 point line. But all 5 players scanning and looking straight at Giannis, its hilarious. It was just random possession, you could see even greater examples, but if you have entire game near, I am talking about momemnt in the 4th. Q with 5:57 remaining.

It is ridiculous what kind of attention these players need, like all time great players, forget double team, all 5 defenders focus on you. I never played basketball myself much, but this reminded me of those video, where you would have AI companions, but AI enemies ignore them and only focus on you haha. Lots of games do that crap, like Horizon Zero dawn, that game pissed me off sometimes :D

Giannis will be old man soon, can't move like that without breaking rules of time relativity.

Right, like the rest of the stuff is not enough. Giannis is already great, no need for refs to give him a boost too, but that's how it is with superstars. Hezonja sucked defensively tonight, and just before that beautiful reverse dunk at the end you can see Giannis pushing him in the back.

No, i meant that play after the block is -not- a travel

You can count the steps after he picks up the dribble. Is only 2 very long strides

I'm not sure what you have seen, but Giannis and Calathes were defended like teams are defending Westbrook and I'm not sure that's great compliment for them.

Without Dorsey's great shooting and Saric being disastrous
it would be easy fairly easy win for Croatia.

Yes, near the 3 point line they gambled a ton, they used collapse defense all game. Honestly, I dont feel the way you did, I felt that Greece controlled an entire match, if anything, the final score didn't tell the story of the game, I had zero doubts Greece would win, final Croatian run was just mouse thinking its escaped from cats' game.

Dorsey was very good shooting, but on the other hand, they didn't punished Croatia' gamble at all. Giannis made 0 threes out of 4, Calathes 0/3, Thanasis 1/4, those are the guys who will be left open due to collapse defense in every other game, because you need to collapse when facing Giannis, and today, Greece shot terribly from 3 in those situations, there were plenty of potential to be better, but even without that, I felt Greece won comfortably.

This was not collapsed D on Giannis. He was not defended at all 5 meters out. Calathes is career 26% shooter, Giannis 29%. Not exactly big gamble. Croatia had disastrous first half and was much better team in second half. Saric, who's very important for Croatia with 0 points, Dorsey with far the best game with NT. In the end Croatia **** up not leaving Calathes open and putting 2 players in the paint and Giannis had easy dunk.

He was very much defended 5 meters out, it was just defense against his possible drives, they could have lived with his 5 meters out jumpers. Of course they didnt collapse when hes outside 3 point line, but when hes at 15-16 feet, they very much collapsed and completely packed the drive lanes. Yes, even in play I was describing, he was left open at mid range, but just because they dont tight on him and breath in his face, it doesnt mean they didnt play defense, all 5 defenders were looking at him and anticipating his drives. When they sack Giannis, they just picking their poison, you make it sound like he is some guy who does not even require defense, which was a complete opposite of that, even when he is sagged of, all 5 players are playing defense on him.

I don't understand how all 5 players can play D on someone, who's left open 5 meter from the rim? Sure they're looking in his direction, like they would look at anyone with the ball. There were moments, when both Giannis and Calathes were wide open next to each other and they couldn't decide, who should shoot or do something with the ball. It didn't look pretty. Luckily for Greece Dorsey has played ISO's like MJ.

Well, I explained how. This game was prime example of defending driving lanes. Scrub players who are bad shooters, you will gamble on them sure, but normally, defenders still guard them pretty closely, because at this level, even a bad shooter scrub can hit wide open shot on not terrible efficiency. The reason why guys like Giannis or Westbrook are sagged off and defended this way, is not only because they are bad shooters, but also because they are elite penetrators and super elite finishers. It is easy to guard a scrub, with guys like Giannis, as I said you picking a poison, either situation is bad, but they would rather force him into jumpers then open the paint and driving lanes where its 2 points or a foul or both for Giannis every time.

Greece has a big problem, Calathes is the worst shooter among guards in Euroleague history. So you have at least 2 disastrous shooters in the lineup. That's why Calathes was -5 and Sloukas +12. I wonder what will happen, when Cs comesback and there will be 3 non shooters in the lineup. Dorsey looks to be crucial for Greece. If he has bad shooting game...

They already played with 3.5 non-shooters in the lineup today, Thanasis started (Papanikolaou is the 0.5 shooter, Olympiakos fans will understand the decimal thing )

Yep. It's a given that shooting is an issue for us. Dorsey and Sloukas are the only players we have that can be called good shooters.
