Do I think he can make a name for himself as a very good modern C which will be a quicker, athletic C that has the lateral quickness to defend some perimeter as well as rebound?! Absolutely and he has a good base with some ballhandling and ok touch in the mid range that can be improved on that he can with time be considered one of the better young bigmen.

But star?!

Hmm with guys like Embiid, KAT, AD etc nevermind Ayton, Bagley etc coming in I don't think he comes close to measuring up to them and they're considered stars (or potential ones). He'll need to make substantial improvement in his shooting range and playmaking ability to really be considered a star player but he certainly has nice potential.

I think he'll become the kind of star Horford and Millsap are, guys who don't score a lot but elite in other areas that make your team much better. If he could reach 15 points/8 rebounds/5 assists with elite defense I think he would then be considered a star.

That’s definitely an attainable level for Bam.

He looked like such a great prospect on paper and it didn't take much to get that pick from the Nuggets. I thought he'd be a solid 3 and D player at minimum with scoring and playmaking upside. He would have been a great fit next to Simmons. I look forward to his continued development.

Sometimes it just works out that way. If the Jazz had the 5th pick would they have taken Mitchell over players who ended up not being as good prospects? Maybe not. That's just how drafting works sometimes. When teams have lottery picks they tend to go with some safe option. But when you go 13th you're willing to go 5 or 10 spots out of order in a guy you believe in.

The Jazz didn't have the 13th pick though. They traded for it - just like any team could/should have. I would have been slamming the phones once I saw him still around past 10.

Yeah that seems pretty attainable with hard work n excellent value considering he wasn't even top 10.

Just tying to offer solace dude. If you want to torture yourself with thoughts of a Mitchell on the 76ers with Simmons and Embiid you can go ahead, I Just wouldn't advise it or you'll never get some sleep. :D

Can there be a separate thread made to debate Simmons vs Mitchell?!

Simmons can't carry team to playoffs

Post#1030 » by Andy123 » Thu Feb 15, 2018 1:12 am

Embiid could , just notice everytime embiid sits sixer's get blown off the court.
They're not even competitive with no embiid.
For anyone arguing Simmons for all star game take off your bias lens and see the truth ..He has potential but is not quite all star level yet.
I enjoy contributing ideas in a discussion towatds a solution , not interested in debates or arguments.

Or maybe it's just that it's not really possible to play basketball without a center?

Is Kemba Walker or Dragic doing anything above that you're so heavily critiquing Simmons on?

6th Triple double for Ben Simmons as the 76ers beat Miami without Embiid.

This would've been a great take last season. Philly has two stars now though, something people need to get used to.
