Yeah those GMs just nail it year after year haha

Not that i consider GMs takes to be the guiding star, but there is a significant difference in predicting a future vs. making a decision based on what they saw.

Dont they predict the future based on what they saw from the previous year?

I'm struggling to understand how you are struggling with the difference lol. Things change during the season. 1 is assessing body of work, the other one is guessing what body of work will be. I dont know what else to say.

You say this as if it were some kind of damning criticism .

What do you think the purpose of data analysis is, bud? There are two purposes: (1) understanding why events in the past occurred; (2) predicting what events will happen in the future.

Both of these are exercises in extrapolation. If we didn’t need to predict the outcome of events that either didn’t happen or haven’t happened yet then there wouldn’t be any reason to even keep data. In any context.

You have a lot to learn about a lot of things. But you probably won’t bother, so just keeping beating your drum.

Not struggling here. So what youre saying is we should value this survey, when the gms going into the season saw 36 yr old Lebron and AD as an old 7 seed, who added a clearly declined westbrook(also available for them to see), surrounded them with guys over 35 and said this team is the 2nd title favorite and had the second best offseason? Visionaries. Did they not notice all those players had clearly declined before this season in all their assessments? It was plain to see. They are wrong all the time in their assessments, bad trades, signings, letting wrong guys go.

I never said anything about the survey. I never look for it, if it wasnt posted here wouldn't even know it existed. What I did say is that you are comparing apples and oranges and are struggling to see the difference since you put an equal value on evaluating past and predicting future.

HardenToSixers wrote:your argument boils down to

1. Without his two best teammates: I don't care. Sixers dealt with plenty of roster turmoil. Tobias Harris played godawful for most of the year and Sixers fans were calling for his head, Maxey is a 2nd year player, Simmons was sitting out, questionable role player depth in the front court and on the wing, issues integrating Harden caused a late season slide.

2. Wins column: once again, don't care. They're close enough that it shouldn't factor in hugely. Saying "played in more wins" is a stupid argument and splitting hairs. Sixers are a higher seed in the playoffs which offsets that.

So again, your argument mostly boils down to Jokic's advanced stats were better. Congrats.

People "don't care" about any of your nonsensical arguments either. Congrats, at least you make people laugh.

It's nonsensical that the Sixers roster around Embiid is marginally better and not as deep as Denver's? Then why is our record terrible without him? Why were we blown out for 2 straight games of this series with him gone and came back and won convincingly with him in the lineup?

It's nonsensical that we are splitting hairs in the win column? So you think an MVP should be chosen because he "played in more wins" than the competitor, even though the difference is marginal at best and the competitor had more wins overall and was the higher seed?

Not sure what is so nonsensical for you to wrap your head around chief.

The 76ers were 6-8 without Embiid and the Nuggets were 2-6 without Jokic during the season.

And you really don’t have to go by advanced stats. Basic stats have Jokic at 27, 14, and 8 while shooting 58.3 FG%, if you don’t want to use his 66.1 TS%, because that’s too advanced.

So what are we saying about playoff performance again?

Embiid has had 3 games this playoff alone that would qualify as Jokic's worst playoff games of his career.

ANGRY EMBIID GONNA SHOW UP TONIGHT, MAYBE NOT TO THE GAME, BUT HE'LL SHOW UP!

Give him even a second tier semi star and they win lot more in the playoffs. This guy is literally carrying bunch of bench players by himself last two years. You take him out of that team, they are not just a lottery team, probably one of the worst teams in the league. Most valuable player, he is literally THAT for his team.

MVPiid was never fitting for him. Talk about full on cringe.

Joel WebMD is far more suitable.

You couldn't be more caricature if you tried. Morey didnt even disclose what metrics he used, and obviously he used limited metrics, I didnt know Morey = whole analytic science. Personally, not sure how analytics compare players between different eras, obviously they have to have some sort of alignment and calculate different production because of different styles, where Morey simply used unaligned straight stat, which doesn't take context of any sort into account, if anything, this just shows personal opinion rather than highly studied analytic. Ignorance strikes again.
In the same comment you said Morey didn't disclose what he used and also you said what he obviously did.

You make assumptions and run with them.
I also never made a statement about all analytics but you ran on your own tangent with that too as if I did.

Why do you repeatedly feel the need to make insults and snide remarks while stating your opinions? It's sophomoric but you've been a member here long enough for me to know you aren't a teenager. You don't have to act like it but I don't care to converse with you anymore if that's the way want to conduct yourself.

I was told that Embiid will come out angry and drop 50 in game 5.

I'm one person. Tough game from Embiid. Sixers are still gonna push this to 7 so you can wait for me to bump this thread in a couple days don't worry.

As great as joker is
These two years gotta be the most boring mvp post season award.
Most ppl are over it and focused on the playoffs which he is not part of.
