Y’all got him 4th in the league already? Behind Giannis, Jokic, Embiid and ahead of Curry, KD, LBJ, ?
he is one of the most interesting basketball experiments because he looks like a player you would create in a lab, just take a good wing and stretch him to 7'5"
But that might not be enough. You still have to see if the guy can actually play big minutes for close to 100 games a year incl playoffs, that alone is a massive shock to the system. Second you have to see if he can make simple passes out of double/triple teams, it sounds like a small thing but it took someone like Giannis years to learn and it cost him an ECF Vs Raptors. I know teams are probably already testing him in France, but not with the kind of defenders that they have in the NBA. Some NBA teams have multiple athletic wings that can really crowd you in a hurry. Especially in a series where teams will discover your smallest weakness and absolutely hammer it in every play.
Can he do those 2 things and stay relatively healthy? If so then yes I think he will be top 5 very quickly. But I don't know that he can yet, we have to see it. A similar dude in Chet Holmgren already failed the first test.

This man is 7"6.
?t=UTAkEsG3PR8aMiQywf008g&s=19
The coordination to be able to do this at that size.
Dude is like Giannis only 7 inches taller and can actually shoot.

I was reading that he was 6'6 already at 13 years old...which is crazy given his coordination. You would think he would have hit a few crazy late growth spurs to provide him those natural ball skills / coordination given his height.
Praying for Burrow

Yea, 5'9 at 10, 6'6 at 13 and 7'1 at 15 lol. I think the fact that he was always a giant actually explains why he's so agile and moves so well. Tall people usually have late growth spurs so they learn how to move and run like a "normal" person then their body grows and they have to readjust, Wemby has always been tall af so he learned how to move like everybody else.

I'm actually most impressed that he was able to throw it to himself off the front of the rim, instead of off the backboard.
That ain't easy!

I've seen this said elsewhere but it is interesting how most 7'3"+ guys looked like they were stretched on a stretcher, then you look at Yao Ming who was proportionally built and didn't look like a stick figure at 7'5".

Is Wemby’s team among the favorites to win the title this season? Were they expected to reach and win the semis or finals?

Around a year ago the club's future was in jeopardy, both results and finances were bad. Then they got gifted Wemby who wanted to come and have a team built around him so it saved the club but nobody expected them to challenge, they were just a Wemby development project. They overperformed obviously, thanks to Wemby mostly. But despite Mets being the #2 seed in the playoffs, everybody had ASVEL clear favorites and at 0-2 nobody thinks the series is over because Monaco and ASVEL are supposed to be the 2 best teams in the league. If Mets beat ASVEL and reach the final, I dont see them beating Monaco who seems to be the best french team by a fair margin this season.

What do you mean? It´s clearly off the backboard.

My bad.
Weird angle and looking at it on my phone threw me off.

Yeah I remember when Yao came in the league he looked kinda "lanky", but then when you looked closer he had tree trunks for legs! He was so much fun to watch. Sad how his career fizzled out due to injury.

I'm intrigued to see how Victor is perceived by the NBA players and how well he builds friendships. Some of the international superstars seem to struggle some with it.

He did have tree trunks but also long torso with short TRex arms, just a weird build overall

Re: Victor Wembanyama Mega-Thread - For all your Wembanyama needs!
I think he gets overestimated a tad when being compared with Giannis. Yes he is coordinated and moves well for his size, but he doesn’t have the twitchiness, lean, and body control that Giannis has. it’s going to be much easier to keep him from driving to the rack, but Giannis is simply impossible to keep out. Now if the outside shooting holds up, that won’t matter as much.

Yao had a 7-6 wingspan. So not T-rex arms. That was Kevin Willis.
