It's head to head matchups between all the three tied teams. Not head to head between just two teams. If three teams are tied, it's the record and points between all three.

Also, it's not just points differential that decides it. The points scored also matter. So if teams are tied on point differential, then how many points each team scored also matters.

Navarro and Pau peak era was better.

Calderon, Garbajosa, Rodriguez etc. They were absolutely insane. Even had Ibaka and Mirotic in there for a bit.

It was a once in a lifetime experience for Spain.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

So both Germany and France need that win today to avoid playing Canada in the quarter finals :o but if whoever loses today goes on to beat Canada in the quarters, they avoid playing the US in the finals, right? Interesting

Spain fought until the very last second but Canada was too solid, Today is probably the end of such enjoyable era for us, it's time to thank the veterans for the memories and for the young kids to take over.

Because it's not based on head to head between just two teams.

Because australia colluded to get rid of spain.

If they had won, spain goes trough.

if they had FOUGHT and the game was close even if they were defeated spain goes trough.

So, they mailed it, because the know they would NOT win a second game agaisnt spain that played their worst game in the last 40 years vs them the other day.

Btw , refs screwed spain from a win today.

Those projected matchups could be right but we should ignore the rankings of 1 v 8 because that assumes they are playing the winner of 4 v 5. It doesn’t work like that since its a pot draw. In the event that Germany wins, it will be France vs Canada but that winner can possibly end up playing the US in the semis depending on which side of the bracket they land on.

I believe that what it basically what it comes down to is throwing out the games against Canada entirely.

So if we just do that:

Australia +6
Greece -1
Spain -5

My apologies if confused.

Honestly pretty astonishing to see Spain not even get out of the first round after winning Eurobasket.
Not often that the top seed in a group finishes last.

I'm french and I could care less about Spain (except for their "naturalized" players out of nowhere)

Your conspiracy theory makes no sense. Australia risked elimination by losing that game.

Lorenzo Brown was a one hit FIBA wonder. It happens quite a lot. Where a guy has one great FIBA tournament, and does pretty much nothing else significant, before or after that. For recent examples, Bo McCalebb comes to mind, and even Dragic was very similar to that, and many other such examples. Brown's EuroBasket tournament was also one of those examples where a player looks much better in FIBA, than they do in the higher level club competitions, like EuroLeague for example. He's never been anywhere near that good of player in EuroLeague, as he was at that EuroBasket. In the EuroLeague, he's never been seen as being one of the better guards.

Brown had a great EuroBasket, then he was bad in the qualifiers since then, and bad in this Olympics. Rudy could still really help a team for like 10 to 15 minutes back then, but now he's completely done and washed. Bo Cruz could also contribute something then, but in the last 2 years, he's been a mostly useless player. He was one of the biggest bust signings in EuroLeague history for Panathinaikos.

So basically, Brown, Rudy, and Cruz went from being contributors, to not really being in any way reliable or dependable.

The other guy I would point to is Diaz. He was really good at that EuroBasket, with his great defense and clutch offense, and he just wasn't nearly the same in this tournament.
