Too obvious. Can easily be argued he isn't giving the minimum effort required.

He can try do it discreetly in the flow of the game. 2 quick fouls after about 3-4 mins of play. A double tech after a "missed call". Eventually he'll be a liability on the court and the sixers would rather have him benched to collect his checks.

Love it. Morey in the mud, don't give a f*** :D

We ain't trading an all-star, all-defensive player with 4 years of team control for someone else's bench crumbs and a 2nd rounder.

The owner is a billionaire; looks like they're ready to eat his whole contract and let Simmons wither in Philly, and I'm here for it. What a *** snake this guy turned out to be. Good luck to any team that gets him (eventually).

As far as people saying "wasted a year of Embiid" - bet you Sixers will be even better this year than last year. Addition by subtraction of Ben.

So you wanna at least an all star for Ben, but at the same time the team won't miss a bit? Interesting, interesting...

Who do you think "leaguewide" the Sixers are losing? The other owners? I can assure you they are supporting the Sixers (especially the non-LA/NYC/MIA marquee destination teams). The players? A CBA negotiation is coming up soon that is going to determin how that massive new TV deal is going to get chopped up (some are saying the cap may go to $175+ million). You think the players are happy that Ben Simmons is giving the owners a stick to bash the players association over the head with in those negotiations? Huh?

Who - EXACTLY - are the Sixers "losing leaguewide'?

Would pmsl if non guaranteed contracts become a thing in the NBA

Absolutely delusional, and I think Ben sucks.

I have high hopes for the young guys - Maxey, Korkmaz, and crew. Ben's absence gives everyone more playing time. And I hope Drummond finally becomes the one and only true back-up that Embiid has had in his career. Good start by Andre last night grabbing 17 rebounds in 19 minutes.

I guess it remains to be seen. Ben's absence lowers the team's defence, but it increases team spacing and shooting which is crucial with Embiid. Tobias Harris now slides at the PF spot while allowing Maxey to start at PG. Shooters like Korkmaz, Niang, etc. get more minutes.

It's good to be rid of a non-shooting point guard whose main skill on the offensive end is to stand beside Embiid at the dunker's spot. And even then, he misses some wide open ones...

Your playmaking will be nonexistent. That's the biggest problem. We only need to look at how Embiid got slaughtered in the bubble without Ben to see how this is going to play out. Maxey is a good scorer but not a great floor general or playmaker, and he's wayyyy too reliant on his floater right now. Teams are going to figure that out real quick.

Tight back wtf? Who the hell does this punk kid think he is? If I'm Philly I'm benching this bozo and suspending him without pay.

Rivers did, objectively.

Embiid's comments were a little more ambiguous.

Please post the exact comments Rivers made that you feel threw him under the bus. I didn't think there was anything wrong with what he said.

The "I don't know if you can win a championship with him" comment.

For many seasons now, the team suffers once Embiid sits. We tried with Dwight Howard last year; didn't go well. We've tried with other bigs in the past. If at least one big gives some sort of production when Embiid sits, it helps a lot. We don't need Drummond to be a savior - just get some buckets and grab rebounds while Embiid rests. I think he can do that.

To be honest, mental excuse is plausible because we already know he is mentally fragile as a player. He has Morey beaten. Now he will get paid while doing nothing and tanking his value.

Morey is a clown at this point…

He was trying to trade Simmons since the day he was hired and from all reports did trade him for Harden (good trade) until Rockets pulled out last moment.

Simmons is going to claim mental health issues and collect his money while Sixers depth chart will be hurting all because Morey is too stubborn to trade him.

Simmons is being a dick but Harden/Butler have both done the same recently and were traded. Just get it done and move on. The longer is goes on, the harder it will be to get any value from it.

That's fine but Drummond ain't it, man. He's not better than Dwight. There's a reason LA chose Dwight over him in the first place.
Now Furkan is looking good, he could be solid for you guys this year. Maxey has taken a jump but he has a long way to go. Shake looks broken, not sure what y'all did to him.
You guys will have solid regular-season record - maybe 5/6th seed in the East and then a first-round exit, IMO. Just nowhere near enough talent to compete right now, with a max contract's worth of value locked up off the floor.
