Hey, I gave him credit for that. I’m just saying that Embiid clearly dominates bad teams better than anyone in the league. The only question is about play against better teams and that’s why the race is close.

Embiid didn’t even play the 4th quarter for any of those games. If he did he would be averaging 37-38ppg instead of 35ppg. Also Embiid just dropped 51 on the T-wolves so I’m not sure his play against better teams is in question.

He is averaging the most minutes per game of his career. You somehow seem to think he'd be playing those 4th quarter minutes in ADDITION to his heavy load in the 3rd quarter lol. And I assume you think his efficiency wouldn't drop, despite SEASONS of evidence where the more minutes he plays, the worse his efficiency is (Like most people).

He is INCAPABLE of averaging 40 minutes a game my guy. Even in the playoffs, he has NEVER averaged 40 minutes a game. Fatboy Jokic has (40 mins a game last playoffs).

Get this "He didn't play 4th quarter" out of your head - he's playing heavier minutes earlier in the game. It averages out. He's not MAGICALLY gonna play an additional 6+ minutes without serious consequences.

This post just shows me you have zero clue on wtf your talking about. This is how Embiids minutes work every single night since nick became coach.

He plays the entire 1st quarter. Then he rests until about the 6-7 minute mark of the 2nd quarter. Then he plays the entire 3rd quarter. Then he rests until the 6-7 minute mark of the 4th quarter, IF IT ISNT A BLOW OUT.

So In games where the score is close and isn’t a blow out, Embiid usually plays 35-36 minutes. So if indeed he played 36 minutes of every game his average in ppg so would be hovering around 37ppg.

I watch every game and this is his rotation.

Thankfully the majority of the actual voters have a different opinion than you. They just barely beat the Charlotte Hornet. Jokic had 18/9/10

A steller game for someone like Sengun, Sabonis, etc. This was a below par game for Jokic when you even consider his numbers at the start of the season, or last year.

There is homerism, and then there are levels like this. If Embiid was performing worse than last year, I wouldn't be saying he's MVP. He' performing better than last year, where he was the MVP, and Jokic's numbers are down from last year, particularly in efficiency.

Also, credibility of yours has been lost when you say Tatum is number 2. Sounds like you just don't like Embiid. LOL

Jokic is the best player on the defending champs. Best player in the world. Best winner. He’s obviously not going all out right now. Tatum is the best player on the team with leagues best record. Nothing wrong with putting him 2nd.
There is when he's not even cracking 30 and is having a down year compared to last. The Celtics are as close to a super team there is so infact he needs to be better than last year and all the candidates to show how he is a worthy MVP, irregardless of how stacked his team is.

I listen to a bunch of top podcasts and none of them think Tatum is even worthy of the top 5.

It's Embiid, Giannis, Jokic, Luka, Sga. Apart from Embiid all the other 4 can be swapped. Tatum is not on their planet.

Finally is we're talking record the Sixers are within striking distance of 1st. It's not some huge gap.

Game 7 Celtics - 76ers: Tatum 51 points. Embiid 15 points. For my criteria Embiid can’t be ahead of Tatum right now when Tatum was the best player on the winning team.

He cannot play 36 minutes a game - he has not done it in his career yet, in any season. He BARELY can do it for 10-15 games at a time (his playoff career MPG is < 35).

You are speaking of hypotheticals where somehow his body (which we have shown is INJURY PRONE) is somehow, miraculously, able to not only withstand extra duress he will put it through, but also not suffer efficiency loss that he has displayed over his entire career.

I guess we're not talking about Embiid anymore - we're speaking of some superhuman person, who also isn't injury prone?

Merry Christmas Stans. May our unwavering loyalty to 'our guy' forever blind us to other's top-line play, and may we forever find the most obscure, skewed, or nonsensical stats to ensure that 'our guy' is the best at something...always.

This is on NBA. Why do they want to arrange an Away game for Embiid on Christmas day? After not playing in Minnesota, he was able to play TWolves at Philly just fine.

That sucks I hope families didn’t buy tickets for Christmas hoping to see Embiid play in Miami. Quite unfortunate events.

Nah, I'm sure there was a game sometime in the last few years where Embiid beat down Adebayo that will be pointed to as evidence that this isn't the case

On a serious note, it sucks that he's sitting. I'm sure the injury has to be valid, because it's a primetime game and he tends to play those*

*Unless they're in Denver :D

It is Christmas though, and on that topic, I fully expect the Nuggets to lose to the Pistons on Jan 7 (Serbian Orthodox Christmas). There's a comment on reddit that sums it up pretty well:

They are going to beat Denver on 7th because the league is such a mess and also it's Nikola Jokić's Christmas, he'll probably be overeaten and drunk from the Christmas Eve that he will probably celebrate with his brothers. Serbs can go crazy on their Christmas Eve , sometimes drinking straight until 6AM. I'm kidding obviously, but in case it happens, you have an explanationp

I'm sorry did you all miss this last game?

He was limping around the entire game after this.

This is truly the dumbest most pathetic narrative created in the internet.

W. E haters gonna hate. People lose grip of reality when they see their gods are mortal and cling to anything to tear others down.

You'd think these conspiracies would be a little more well thought though.

Let’s get real. Bam or any smaller defender can’t really defend embiid without help. Miami has to try all the zone schemes to slow or frustrate embiid. And this version of embiid averaging 6 assists a game has figured it out these gimmick defense.

Just image if they put illegal back in place. Embiid would just destroy any smaller defender since help defenders can’t hedge in or it’s an automatic free throw for embiid due to illegal defense.

Imagining this scenario...crazy! But what if...they also brought back the 80s defense, like what the Pistons were doing to Jordan...Embiid would be out of 50 games a year due to injury, and that injury would be from a defensive move that doesn't even get a whistle...not these light touch fouls he gets.

Hypotheticals are fun :D

1. Embiid
2. Giannis
3. Jokic
4. SGA
5. Luka

Tatum is probably the only one outside that list that could break into the top 5

What are all our Embiid haters from the USA going to do if Team USA led by Embiid is facing Serbia in the Gold Metal game at the Olympics this summer? Cheer for Serbia to maintain your hater status lol?
