One game is meaningless. Durant will be the runaway mvp and it'll be well deserved.

Runaway? NO F*cking way. it is close now, wether you like it or not. if you were watching pre-game shows, everybody was talking about a MVP Showdown and the importance of this game. im not saying it is right or wrong, but it is what it is. in the eyes of media, it is very very close.
KD's still the frontrunner, but if LeBron continue to play like this and Miami finish with a record better than OKC he has a legit chance.

That was LeBron's 4th straight 30+ point game.

His numbers on the season now: 26.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 6.5 apg, 3.6 TOpg, 65.6% TS

Durant's numbers on the season: 31.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 5.5 apg, 3.6 TOpg, 63.9% TS

I would say Durant still has the edge, especially since he's been a better defensive player this season, but it's pretty crazy how a down year from LeBron is still better than all but one player in the league.

So long as the Heat have a worse record than OKC and don't have the 1st seed in a pitiful East, Lebron shouldn't be MVP over Durant and the 1st placed OKC.

OKC have the best record in the league right.

KD is still in front despite a Heat win against them with Lebron playing great.

Problem for Durant isn't losing the game to MIA - it's more the WAY it went down. You can't let Lebron stroll onto your court and dominate you like he did in that 1st quarter, which pretty much set the tone for the entire ball game and was somewhat shocking to watch.

With everyone watching you just can't let it happen. The narrative in the media is already starting to flip.

I think Durant is still in the lead but if OKC falls behind MIA in the standings.....it's a toss up.

Durant is still the favorite to win the MVP.Lebron is the best player in the game.Lebron to be closer at the MVP race has also to put the Heat in the #1 spot of the East.

Not really, I said that Durant had the edge. I know how ridiculous of a stretch Durant was on before. And I think the people saying that LeBron now has the edge for MVP are seriously knee-jerking.

But I think it's clear that LeBron at his best is still better than KD at his best. The MVP is still KD's to lose imo, because he's been a lot more consistent than LeBron.

well it was clear that we would get some overreacting.. it was just one game after all

it showed one thing for sure.. the MVP race is far from over..

but who wins at the end.. depends on level of indivudal and Team Play

i think who has a better rest-season and whos Team got the better record at the end will win it

The gap is shortening. LeBron is knocking on the door and maybe he can still get that 5th MVP award this year.

Maybe the team record will play a decisive part so it's important for the Heat to keep winning.

I think if LeBron was averaging 8 boards a game...

that would have had it closer before.

Something about 27/8/7 that just "seems" much better.

A lot of overreaction for both Durant and Lebron stans going on here. This one game didn't tilt anything as far as MVP is concerned. The person awarded MVP should go to the person who was most consistent for 82 games...one game in February should not decide it.
So when is this plane going down? I'll ride it til' it hits the ground!

I don't even think it matters that OKC lost yesterday. It was more so the way Durant got thoroughly out played by LeBron that's gonna hurt him more than this one loss. He's lost the narrative of 'best player in the league' and that's gonna be big. I think voters are gonna hesitate to vote for a guy they know isn't the best player in the league; before this game, especially after their last match up, that title was up for grabs in the media and Durant was making a good case for it. This seals the door till at least the playoffs.

The Heat are 1.5 games back from the best record in the NBA. Imo this race is a serious toss up and it's a tie between LBJ-Durant. While i mostly agree with what you said about the MVP going to the person on the team with the better record (that's been the narrative for the MVP award over the years) we still shouldn't sleep over the fact that LeBron clearly out played Durant last night in the biggest game of the season for both players

Winning percentage vs the superior west.

Thunder vs the West 26-8....0.765%
Heat vs the West 17-4....0.810%

I sorta agree with Cuban that Lebron still has to do more than just win a single game in a convincing fashion to make up for his earlier woes. If Miami overtakes Indiana for the #1 seed with Wade missing half of the season and closes the gap on OKC's record, Lebron has as much of a case as any. Lebron is obviously the best player in the league, but Durant has played like the MVP this year and this game didn't undo that.

Durant can have the regular season MVP. I'm just glad LeBron decided to flip that switch and end all this premature ignorant chatter about Durant being the better player.
