This is probably one of 5 important games SGA has played in his pro career as the 1st option. I don't understand how people can compare him to Luka.

Anyway, Canada choking puts them under pressure to beat Spain. Do or die for both teams. We'll see what Spain can take away from this Canada loss in terms of things to implement on defense. That said, I don't see Canada peforming this badly on offense again and Spain doesn't have a ball handler like Yago who simply refuses to lose the ball. 10 assists and 1 turnover as a point guard against an NBA back court is about as good as it gets.

SGA having only one assist isn't going to get it done. A lot of standing around and watching him work today.

Fully expect a loss to Spain to follow this out and crapping out of this tournament. Underachieving is what Canada does on the world stage. And we get to hear the chorus of "but but but we didn't have our best players" for the next 4 years. Whatever.

That could have really been unsportsmanlike from Dort.

You can't really commit a regular foul by kicking someone.

We just took this Brazil team for granted after beating more talented teams easily. Deserved to lose, hopefully we wake-up before playing Spain.

Yago Santos looks pretty good to me, even tho' he's 5'10.

Checked him out and he's only 24 as well.
Shooting the heck out of the 3 in this tournament(even with this shooting stinker against Canada), lots of assists and low turnovers.

I think he can be a backup in the NBA for a bunch of teams.

Sunday games are going to be crazy. All 4 teams have 1 loss and 3 wins. Either Canada or Spain are out of the tournament.

So all the favorites dropping like flies (started by France) then it’s just Canada OR Spain.

So this Tier 2 Team USA just had an easier path to the gold medal.

We have to go with the traditional Brazilian mononym with Yago. That's too good to bog down with a last name.

I said earlier in the tournament that he would definitely have been a 3rd string PG in the NBA years ago. Right now I see issues with his size due to all the switching. Apart from that he surely has NBA backup level handle and is easily the fastest PG in Europe.

Yeah, that's the thing: When you can zone up in international play, being sub-6 foot isn't even remotely the same issue it would be in a league where man-to-man is the norm and teams will just force you to switch and attack mismatches mercilessly. Especially in the playoffs when they actually start game-planning in earnest and will play weak links right off the court. So I don't know, that's a big stretch. Regardless, this is a different ballgame and he played great today.
