probably still Jokic by a hair but its much closer than a week or two ago. the gap in the individual play is beginning to narrow and the gap in team wins is beginning to widen.

sga by a mile. not even close. jokic's getting good games from murray too. sga is a one man show. it's crasy that he's 4th in the poll.

schedule is going to tighten up towards the end of the season. hope they don't bang themselves chasing records or hardware hunting or stuff like that.

SGA has the best supporting cast in the NBA. He’s not a one man show

it's a supporting cast BUILT AROUND SGA. the stats don't lie - everyone except sga and chet are rotation players and chet misses a lot of games and is inconsistent.

What team has a better supporting cast around their best player?

not sure, but I don't think jokic or doncic would like it if their sidekick was caruso or cason wallace or isaiah joe

I think Jokic and Luka would love it if they had SGA’s supporting cast lol

I think it'll ultimately be decided by how many more wins OKC has over Denver. If the gap is relatively small, <5 games, then I think Jokic will win, but otherwise SGA will be tough to beat, particularly if OKC pushes 70 wins (which I think they will). I think the final gap will be around 10 wins and I don't think voters will overlook that.

Saying that Shai has a much better supporting cast is not a hypothetical. It's a fact.

If Jokic had Shai's supporting cast, he would massively reduce their output and quality of play due to his all time worst heliocentrism

All time worst heliocentrism? Tell me you don’t you don’t watch basketball without telling me you don’t watch basketball. SGA has a higher usage rate than Jokic. I mean try harder.

Fully healthy, yeah, but SGA has been carrying a team without a single other all-star or All-NBA player all year.

It's not clear to me that Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, Cam Johnson, Christian Braun are collectively worse than Chet, Hartenstein, Dort, Wallace.

Weirdly head to head might matter even if the game difference is around 8 to 10 games. If Denver wins 3 games between the two I think that might push the edge to Jokic. Especially since the Nuggets will not be favourites against the Thunder when they will play

I think its a discussion whether Shai or Jokic has a better 2-5 (although I'd lean Shai), but the difference in depth is absolutely insane which matters less in the playoffs but a lot in the regular season

I don't really disagree, but guys who are 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th guys on the roster generally aren't going to decide MVP. Most people came out of the offseason believing Denver had seriously upgraded their depth with Brown, Val and THJ. I don't think the MVP argument is going to come down to perceptions of Isaiah Joe and Ajay Mitchell vs. Bruce Brown and Peyton Watson, and it probably shouldn't.

To be fair, Jokic has been carrying teams without All NBA players or all stars his whole career

Jokic had a really bad week after winning back to back Player of the Weeks.

Only 35/13/10 on 54/40/82 in four games. He needs to pick it back up if he wants to win this thing.

Oh the old "supporting cast" argument. You use it because you have nothing else. I'm impartial because I'm not a fan of either team, so I just say what I see. I think it's time to get new material champ.

Shai has OKC at a 120 ORTG putting them 4th in the league with his 2nd best offensive player probably being Ajay? Ya the team is deep and stacked with very good defensive pieces but theyre also, good but not great offensively. Shai is carrying that offense just being ruthlessly efficient in the half court and never turning the ball over (a guard of his usage turning the ball over <2 times a game is hugely underrated), and he may join the exclusive 50-40-90 club.

It is to Jokic's credit that he's flirting with another MVP this season. Shai would be the runaway favourite against the majority best seasons of almost any other all time great
