such a bad look but after ducking the Denver game this is really just par for the course tbh, is anyone here even surprised? lmfao

Ouch, this is really going to let him lose respect from other NBA players... maybe also fans from other teams.

Missed the last shot, fouled out in OT and now smoke ducking. Not a good look.

If not for an uncharacteristically slow start with his free throw shooting, he'd be in the 54/50/90 club on 30 ppg.

once he does it for 90+ games per season like Jokic does it, than the board's skepticism will fade away

It's late November. I wasn't aware that we already had 90 game sample sizes.

This topic is also called "NBA MVP Discussion Thread 2023-24" last I checked.

No player has more than a dozen or so games under their belt this early in the season, and this topic is presumably intended to be a continuous discussion of the MVP race as we progress through this season.

If others can talk about the Jokic's blistering start to the regular season, or the dominant stretch Giannis is on, then I can mention the efficiency and effectiveness KD has been playing with the past week, all resulting in Ws.

Well obviously. That’s why I said IF he ever becomes an average defender. I’m not saying he will.

So, Hali becomes averages defender, that makes him better than Magic or Steph?

Well he hasn’t peaked offensively yet either. He’s still only 23. Steph and Magic weren’t putting up these kind of numbers until they were 26/27 years old.

KD’s played fantastic. He’s surprised me with how well he’s played. In a lot of years, he’d be a legit MVP candidate. This year though, he’s clearly behind at least Jokic, Hali, Tatum, Embiid, SGA, Curry, and LeBron though. He’s in the next tier with Luka, Mitchell, and Barnes.

Embiid's sitting out tonight??? LOL!!! Every big game with this guy! And after just getting his team eliminated from the IST by missing a clean look from the midrange too!

I love how giannis sits out for back to backs it's load management. Embiid it's ducking. The dude is constantly injured obviously he'll sit out some games. Giannis has missed more games than Embiid last season and this season but Embiid is ducking. Embiid has consistently pwned Gobert in the past he's not ducking anyone. The gaslighting on here is hilarious.

Not this Twolves team with both kat Gobert playing this well. Why does he get injuries during road trips against his peers all of the time? If it was a one off then yes I agree. But we are talking about years he has done this

If KD continues his current trend, he will absolutely be in the conversation with Jokic and anybody else. He barely misses, he's percentage points away from leading the league in scoring, he is logging near triple doubles every night and his team has won each of those games.

If we get to two weeks from now, and he's still doing what he's doing, and his team is still winning, he is a legit MVP frontrunner.

He has had a hurt hip for the last 3 or four games. He was planned on playing both games. Going into overtime and then playing the best defense of the league isn't going to do his body any favors.

He's played and destroyed both players last year. It would be a good game but the primary defender of Embiid will still be Gobert.

This also doesn't simulate the playoffs. They get days off. Embiid only misses games then with serious injuries.

Let's not have these double standards where for Giannis, Jokic it's injury management.

Listen to Philly podcasts and reporters
The NBA constantly scheduled marquee matchups for Philly on back to backs after the in season tournament.. Embiid didn't sit out against Boston. A team they previously beat.

Tough loss for Jokic and Denver but Jokic is back dominating.

Someone said he was in a "slump." He was not. He had two games that got away from him because of him getting upset with not getting foul calls, against Cleveland (limited minutes) and Detroit (ejected).

Denver just isn't a great road team, for whatever reason. I think they've had two 50-win seasons in Jokic's time and in both years (including last year) they were under .500 away from Denver.

Just an issue for them, for whatever reason. They're 7-0 at home this year and 3-5 on the road.

Whoever is or is not in the lineup, they just don't seem to be at their best away from Colorado. At least not in the regular season.

Isn't that literally what happens every time Embiid loses? Has an inefficient game? Misses a game like today. Stop with the hypocrisy and double standards.

They have been doing well without Harden.

Embiid also did well without Simmons.

That might be due to their altitude advantage.

While I don't think that Haliburton is in the MVP race...the way he was able to easily shake OG's defense tonight was hella impressive. Not MVP, but first team all-NBA might be in the cards.

The NBA is very silly arranging marques matches for the second of back-to-backs. First it was against Boston. Now for Minnesota. Can’t they space the bigger matches better?
