Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
I just saw Luka hold a introductory press conference and pose with a Lakers jersey and still cannot believe any of this is real.

Yeah he was a scoring champion who was All NBA and took the team to finals as a **** alcoholic? Every fan in Dallas likes him, every teammate likes him. Cuban, Dirk etc all love him.
Yep.
Manchurian Candidate GM removed all those close to Luka en route to this final step. Two weeks my ass. Then brought in 'his guy' AD.
we know Luka def has anger management issues...maybe a drinking issue...maybe a conditioning issue...maybe maybe maybe he was a A-hole at the mavs facility - the only teammateI know that loves him is Kyrie...other guys respect him...but you don't hear them saying they love him. We have seen Luka Mean Mug his teammates for missing bunnies...
but again...I don't know how bad Luka would have to be to trade him.... especially considering these are the same Mavs that picked up Kyrie after NIKE canceled him for antisemitism...but somehow Luka was too risky?? Keep in mind Kyrie wasn't a risk in the right environment but NIKE dropped Kyrie when his shoes were selling out....
if Nico walked in and asked to trade Luka I would say give me a second....then pull this up and say. what the eff did you say...
I have often criticized Luka for his on court ref whining to the team detriment. And poor D. And conditioning. And I'd still have wanted to keep him. Work with him to get healthy not fire his **** trainer. LAL by the way just retained Luka's health guys.
Morant wasn't traded and he hasn't done nearly as much as Luka on court despite doing plenty worse off court. Were any Ja teammates ok with all that off court activity?
Morris just said if 30/15/10 on a given night is poor shape then what is shape?
And even if you want to move on from Luka, why take parting shots? Why bring in your guy instead of looking after what best long term for the team? Luka could have easily brought back the highest picks package in trade history. Shape and AD, ie/availability, are same end points.
Just weird vibes...

As he said in the conference "Dallas was home to me, its your home". Now I believe the reports he really cried for 2 days after the trade news. Big **** up by Mavs, even if Nico makes the call, you'd say as a team owner "stfu and sit down clown".
Makes you wonder how likely it is he stays. I would guess he does, but Lakers only have a year and a half to convince him to stay and LeBron might not even be playing still by summer 2026.

Luka was genuinely happy only when JJ Redick came next to him for photos.

At his Lakers intro event today, Markieff Morris defended Luka.
* He's low maintenance
* He'll play through any injury
* Can't question his conditioning with the numbers he puts up

Lol. Mavs fans are reacting exactly how anyone with half a brain would've imagined they would after a horrible trade like this. Turncoat GM should be fired and investigated.

what exactly can they say? "Luka aint an alcoholic overweight hard to coach jerk that Nico said he was and they they would have given Luka that the 360 million".
crazy thing is Kyrie a laker next year...book it....
I'm not talking about his physical downfall and the details that comes with it, but more like a showing of emotional support. None of them came out to express, that they were as shocked as the rest of us, or to wish him luck and that he was great to play for...thing of that nature.

Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
**** man. I have a bad feeling about Luka watching that press conference. He will play in front of those old hollywood gimps headed by Pedolinka. They and the day to day media will run with him needing to produce championships, while right now he is really the only piece they have for that(took years for Dallas to surround him with complimentary bodies and scorers). They will demand everything and spit him out when he cant deliver. Kid who had no youth, whos mom tried to steal his name. He might develop an actual drinking problem in that god forsaken city.

The low key real winners of this trade are Hawks fans.

Mavs fans are cancelling their season tickets. Mavs brass didn't anticipate this level of backlash.
If I was a Mavs fan, I would hope for a crash and burn this season, Kidd quits after missing the playoffs, and Harrison gets fired.

They could have foreseen this level of backlash simply by posting the trade proposal on the RealGM trade board. Being laughed off the board would have maybe given them some insight.

I'd do this just to take control of my fate into my own hands. yes, trades are a reality of NBA/American sports but you don't expect to be treated like cattle as the superstar of the team that drafted you. Run out the contract and take your pick in your own terms.

They bought Mavs so they can solidify their presence in the state of texas in order to get permission to build casinos in Dallas!
Last few years they heavily lobbied for this legislature but it was voted against.
Next voting is in 2027.
PLAN A
buy MAVS invest in team, get result out of investment(NBA finals) to help you get this legislature passed
(however it failed vote was again against gambling in Texas)
PLAN B
sell Mavs best player, dont take young prospects and picks back in order to diminish the value of the team
(Decrease in attendance, sponsor withdrawing etc) and threaten Dallas and Texas they will relocate the team to Vegas, if there are no casinos in Dallas. (voting 2027 goes their way)
They tried plan A few times, NOW they are onto plan B.
P.S Business wise long term, you can easily justify drop of several hundred million dollars in Mavs value for billions in revenue coming from new Casino(s) in Dallas.
I would also add that they likely made a plan with Silver to get future permission to move the team if they trade Luka to LA
