Just like the Cavs the last 2 years.

Cause the Cavaliers had Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh too, right? It's exactly the same thing I agree.

Actually it's different. The Cavs won playoff games. The Heat haven't won anything. It's all talk. The Spurs, Lakers and Celtics have proven they can win a championship. The Heat haven't won anything.

Just like the Cavs the last 2 years, until the Heat actually do something it's all talk. The Heat haven't proved they can beat the Celtics in the regular season nevermind a best of 7 series.

maybe the OP should add "after their slow start" to his headline.
b/c i'm guessing that's the question he's truly asking.

after they started 9-8.....did I think they would regroup & end up with the best record in the East this quickly? i'd have to say no. i didn't think they would be this dominant. i figured they might have been somewhere around 23-25 wins by this point....but hats off to them for getting it together.

scarily enough, i don't think they're anywhere close to reaching their potential.
can't wait to see what the future holds.

U R RIGHT....

We should close down NBA internet forums until after the playoffs because clearly you cannot post with any legitimate credibility until all the results are in at the end of the year.

The Heat HAVE to win it all for a discussion about how good they are to even begin.

U R RIGHT...

See you in June.

Everyone can have a discussion about the Heat. The only thing I am saying is no one including myself knows how good they are because they haven't done anything. We all will find out later.

Lol now its heat haven't proven anything in the playoffs.

-Heat just signed,"for all we know they can be a a 50 win team and not mesh

9-8 start-"Of course they are 9-8, you can't have three ball dominant players on the same team, the experiment has failed".

-When Heat were on a 10 game winning streak- "Heat still haven't proven they can beat good teams all they do is beat bottom feeder teams and 9th seeded teams (Heat go on to beat Hawks,Utah, Hornets,Nyk)

Heat on 14,15 game winning streak-"HA! Let them beat ELITE teams, they will surely lose to Lakers".(Heat go on to thrash Lakers)

Now- "Heat are just a regular season team, we've seen the Cavs, they haven't proven they can beat teams in the playoffs, come playoffs they will get thrashed by the either the Lakers or Celtics".

Eventually If Heat do win the championship:

"Heat have two top 2 players in the league and a 24-10 PF of course they will win the championship, LeBron took the easy way out, the league is ruined".

I expected it sooner. I'm still not impressed though. Not enough wins against contenders.

mia is pretty much unstoppable, they havent lost a game in like a month, and even that was against dallas when terry got hot in the 4th (chances of him doing that consistently in a 7 game series are slim to none)

the only team that could beat them is perhaps OK if durant continues to improve and they add a legit big man

yea I know, Lakers got trashed on Christmas again, we might as well call it a season....if anything we should mail the 2010 season rings/trophy to Clev, they rocked us on Christmas and dominated us in Clev.

They have the 2 best players in the NBA. It shouldn't have taken this long to be in 1st place. I'm sure they'll stay there for the rest of the season. Playoffs is when it really counts and I still think that the Celtics will beat them in the playoffs no matter what round it's in. It could wind up being in the 2nd round if the Celtics continue their sluggish play. Granted they are playing w/o Garnett, who is imo their most important player, but last season they started slumping midway through the season but it didn't matter because they knew that no matter what seed they had in the playoffs that they were still the best team and they showed that as they upset the Cavs as a #4 seed. (Pretty sure that was a huge run on sentence..oh well).

i'm going to reserve my true thoughts until later when the Heat plays more upper tier teams and the Contenders again.....other than that they are playing well

the difference is lbj actually has legit side kicks now than b4, stopping lbj is hard task, but now chasing wade and bosh makes it impossible....literally impossible to beat in a 7 game series

Let me get this straight

If the Heat lose (ie. 9-8 at the beginning) "they are a team in crisis"
If the Heat win (ie. right now) "they are a regular season team and will struggle in the playoffs"

But wait there is more...

If Boston or LA lose its injuries or "they are coasting"
If Boston or LA win its "they are proving why they are contenders"

That's some interesting logic...

It shouldn't surprise you. The teams you mentioned have shown they can do it. Just look at Boston last year. Miami on the other hand hasn't. Until they win in the playoffs there will always be some doubts.

well its nice to see people are still making proclimations about the eventual champion with barely half way through the season, cause its not like its hasn't ever been done before
