If the Kings know what is good for them they will start tanking for the next draft for guys like Wiggins, like several other teams are.

How? They would have a nice trio of McLemore, Iggy, Cousins.

I'm not even sure if that's enough to make the playoffs in the west. I don't like this at all.

I hear what you're saying and I agree that he's a good player, a good fit, and could make them a fringe playoff team (though I think that's a long shot). However, I still don't think he's worth a max. He's worth around 8 -12 million, 12 being on the high side. He's a 3rd option/solid defender/role player type, not a franchise type.

I don't known man. Suppose we hadn't taken a chance in trading Richmond for Webber, signing Divac, and bringing them together with a freshly drafted J-Will, for the sake of continuing to "rebuild". Who on that team stuck out as an immediate impact player capable of driving a championship contender? You never know how good a team can be on the court just because they don't look GREAT on paper. And you're also not going to build a contending team overnight or based SOLELY on draft picks. That team had a gradual progression up the ranks. From 99-02 we went from 6 seed to 8 seed (OMG! Treadmill!) to 3 seed to 1 seed. If you don't focus on getting your foot in the door, you'll never BE a contender in the first place. Let's cut out this losing mentality once and for all. I say make a run to GET to the playoffs and then make moves to improve as you go. Its a process, not a button push.

Much needed locker room presence, I think it's a good signing but 2-3m a yr overpaid.

Kings signing Iggy is similar to GS signing Lee to that contract when Lacob and Gruber bought the team. They brought in a high character Vet to change the culture of the franchise. If Iggy has the same effect on players like Cousins then the Kings win the deal even if they paid too much.

iggy is there to change the culture of the team. sacramento is filled with scorers. you must be one of those basketball fans that judges a player by his box score.

He's not being offered the max

It is a pretty penny, but the Kings are basically at step one in their rebuild right now with new ownership and coach. It's going to take absurd contracts like this to get decent FA's to come through Sactown. Not saying it's right or wrong, but they could find a worse player to invest that kind of money in. I'll wait and see before I judge.

I think this is a great signing if the Kings pull it off. SF is the Kings biggest weakness. Huge possibility they sign Iguodola and amnesty Salmons in the near future, who only has 1 year left (team option on the last year).

You can call it whatever you want .... But when your dealing with facts .... You can't back up your talk ... Where has Iggy changed a culture? Ever? In his career?

You see just because you sayyyy something ... Just because you thinnnnk something ... Dosent actually make it true .... You see because in the reallll world we don't use imagination to make a point .... We actually use factual points of refrence ...

Can you do that?

The culture itself is going to change given the fact the Kings have new ownership, a new GM and a new coach. Iggy is a hard working veteran, who will bring a lot to a young team. He will not be expected to change the culture completely by himself, he will only be expected to lead by example and be a veteran presence. The idea is a step in the right direction for the Kings. It also only a four year contract, not a 7 year contract like some of these people used to get. Even he falls off in his last year, the hope would be that the other guys would be stepping up

kings have always had a deficit when it came to filling their small forward position. they have been using evans and salmons as their 3's when they were 2's. iggy is a good lockerroom guy, which is what sacramento needs. they have a nice team now.
pg-thomas/freddete
sg-thornton/mcclemore
sf-iggy/salmons
pf-thompson
c-cousins/hayes

with the decline of the lakers and mavs the kings could potentially sneak into that 8th spot. iggy will help with defense and passing which is what they have been lacking from the sf position.
