Smart has the advantage because he's in Boston. The media exaggerates how good players are in certain markets. I liked how the illustrator during SL showed both Payton's and Smart's height and wingspan and said, Payton was 6'3" and Smart was 6'4". It's actually Payton at 6'4" and Smart at 6'3".

Cities like Boston have more fans and media that are fans that every good thing he does will be magnified. Could you imagine if a player like John Stockton played in Boston, he'd probably be considered top 5 all-time.

so you're saying Marcus will get more hype than Elf regardless of who the better player is? Guess im failing to see your point.

If Payton is better at basketball than Smart is who cares about hype?

I don't care, I'm just stating that Smart doesn't have to be better than Payton to be hyped by the media and fans as better.

You don't have to worry about that. Smart will be better than Payton regardless.

That's because players win more rings in Boston :P

Not happening this year! The NBA is sponsored by Samsung. The next big (best) thing is already here.

I have a feeling we have the new PG rivalry, like CP3 and Deron Williams. The Magic snubbed Smart at 4 and reports said they had a pretty good battle during workouts in Sacremento.

I, as a Magic fan, want Payton to be the next best PG, not because I want to brag about him but I want to know what it feels like to have a pass first point guard that can help our team win, though I did love Nelson. But I honestly don't know who will be the next best especially since I didn't watch college ball nor the Vegas Summer League, but I'm going with Payton, only because I'm supporting my team.

Don't think you can say Exum is a bust, given this is his first NBA-level experience...

This is a real ass post. Mccallum has more tools than any of these other guards you people wet pants for. he above average ATH and size. a coaches son who lives in the film room. very very under the radar.

Also its laughable all the mofos trashing napier after 1 summer league. he isn't the next big thing but keep sleeping. guy does it all and is adjusting to the nba pace. a valuable piece to a team

How about his lowlights? Von Wafer had even more highlights. He had just as many if not more lows than hi's.

Lavine isn't a PG. He's a combo guard. He's gonna be playing both next year.
