I am talking about the Lakers culture being against tanking and you are talking about the team being mismanaged and over the hill and injuries. that is two different things. stay on subject.

I'm a grown man, don't act like you can just tell me what to do lol. Your comment insinuated that the Lakers are too proud to tank. Well newsflash hombre. You are either a 10th seed or....a 10th seed. I love it when Laker fan pride gets smashed in their ugly faces. 'We got rings' lol. Yeah, glad that makes you feel better about life. Currently, you're team is waiting to get on the treadmill. Deal with that.

as a grown man how come you can't tell when somebody asks you to clarify your point versus telling you what to do?

you clearly got off the subject in your post and by simply pointing out mismanaging, injuries and old age you didn't make a point. so I ask you again, what does your point have to do with the Lakers culture of not tanking?

They won't be able to help the fact that they are tanking because they suck. I know you Laker fans are all optimistic but I am here to tell you, they suck. Bad. Carlos Boozer is old and crap, and losing Gasol will hurt more than you know. Randle is an unknown, he could bust out or be a role player but he will not be a superstar. Nick Young is overgayed. Wesley Johnson is a bust. Kobe is coming off 2 major injuries and he is not a young buck, he is old. Your body breaks down after 18 years (or half his life) of playing at the highest level. Nash is done. Good thing you guys have cap space coming soon, all them free agents clamoring to come to play for the Lakers and all.

thank you for clarifying your point a bit.
however, you are lumping ALL Lakers fans into one opinion. like every team we have homers, but not all Lakers fan think that way.
as far as the the tanking because we suck goes, I have to disagree with that. last year we sucked bad (worst record in Lakers history) and we didn't tank. like I have said before the only way we tank is if we have another injury ridden year and/or we really suck as a team and salvaging the Suns pick becomes a possibility. other than that The Lakers won't tank.

now to address your opinion that we will suck so bad, like many have pointed out (even Celtics and Suns fans who are not the most Lakers friendly fans) this years roster overall is better than last year and even if we suck it won't be as bad as last year or a 15 win team. is that over optimistic? I don't think so. Is it reason to jump for joy? of course not, but we are expecting better days ahead because of the cap space you pointed out.

the other thing I want to point out is that being an optimistic fan and wanting your team to do well is not a crime, but I do realize that because our team happens to be the Lakers and this is the realgm GB we are all clumped into one huge orgy of homerism.

nobody is saying that the Lakers will contend this year. what we are saying is that we have reason to believe that we won't do as bad as last year and that the Lakers culture has always been against tanking on purpose. if your opinion differs on the latter please show me an example of when the Lakers purposely tanked. I would like to know when that happened for my personal knowledge.

I am a doctor doing a residency in radiology at HOAG hospital in newport beach, ca. Come by so i can do an CT and MRI on your head. Free of charge (not really).

Lol. Man I knew all those docs at Hoag were high! I once actually went to the ER there cause I got too high. Someone gave me something, I have no idea what it was, but I thought my heart was going to explode out my chest. All the docs just laughed at me, lol. Moral of that story is don't do drugs given to you by your "massage therapist."

Anyway, man, you live right next to me, I always go to eat for lunch at this place where tons of doctors and nurses from Hoag show up. It'd be funny to actually meet someone else from realgm. No doubt another hardcore bball XoXoer.

1. Jazzfan1971 is obviously a Jazz fan but Floppymoose is a Warriors fan.

2. They are doing all 30 teams, not just the Lakers (see the other thread on this page)

3. This is the second year that Jazzfan has done this.

4. He explains himself here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1341521

5. It's a discussion board and this is something to discuss. We could all stand to lighten up a bit over these things.

Well, the fact that the thread was started by a mod changes the tone. But if it were an ordinary poster that came on the GB and started a thread about the Lakers, predicted 15 wins with the type of analysis one can overhear while sitting at a dive bar in any city outside of L.A., it'd either get locked or shipped over to the Laker forum. It's not the 15 win prediction that bothers me, I think everyone here knows how ridiculous that sounds. It's the lack of a thorough roster breakdown to support that prediction.

I don't think I can "lighten up" anymore than I already am. I was just stating my opinion. Next time, perhaps we can each have one representative from each team forum provide an actual analysis of the roster. I think it'd be more informative and educational for fans who don't follow the teams. How would Jazz fans feel if I wrote up a vague report on their team and posted it on the GB? Like I said in my last post, I don't get it. What's the point of that? I'd rather read something from a Jazz fan that watches them 82 games a year. Just an idea...

I actually think this would be a great idea for the future. We have a board for every team. We can easily divide the work so that each team writes an analysis for their respective teams. The mods can do a write down and use posters from their board to write it up. They would then submit it to floppy and jazz and then it can be posted on here. I know that no one will ever agree with everything, but this is a better way to go about it. Im down to even help the both of you in this.

I agree with this. I'd be open to helping out as well. Every team forum can form their own committee and divide up the team analysis that way. It would be far more in-depth and informative. No offense to the 2 OP's, but it's just not reasonable to expect 2 guys to provide 30 team breakdowns in a way that does each team justice. These are the kinds of projects I used to enjoy doing on RealGM 10 years ago when I first joined and had a "simple" life in my early 20's. I just don't have the time to even do a thorough analysis of my own team these days (the type of analysis I'm speaking of would require days if not weeks for each team). But if we can break it down into categories for each team, and have a committee from each team forum share the load, it could be fun, interactive and educational at the same time.

Anyway, there's always next summer. Lakers suck. Carry on.

bad assessment of the Lakers.

they'll be better than most people think. I, however, as a Lakers fan, am hoping for a top 5 worst record finish to have a shot to keep the pick. I'd rather rebuild than tread water.

but at the end of the day, if Kobe is somewhat healthy, they aren't going to win less than 30 games.

Except OP didn't account for injuries of two of our top 3 players.

Do you really think a 40 year old and a rookie would propel you up the standings?

You were really counting on "always injured" Steve Nash to get this team into the playoffs?

Oh..right..forgot about Nash. Make that 3 out of 4 best players.

The fact that the corpse of Nash and the rookie Randle are three of your four best players is a pretty good indication that you are top-5 pick bound. Good prediction by the OP.

So you're saying Randle, Young and Nash are 3 of your top 4 players and Laker fans expected to win games?

Cool
