Uh, in two 7-game series against the Hornets and Raptors he just averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a block in 34 minutes per game on 53% True Shooting Percentage and a PER of 22. And showed he can still make clutch plays in big moments.

And this was as THE guy on the Heat. Put him on the Cavs where he's the #3 guy and he's likely to perform even better.

JR would be relegated to the bench and Wade's cutting ability would make Cleveland better in the halfcourt. It'd also give them a solid post presence to get LeBron off the ball more.

Depends on whether James signs for the max or is planning to forfeit money this year to get Wade and get him paid, whether they resign JR, and whether they dump a wing like Shumpert to take on Wade.

Cavs are currently $20 million under the cap before resigning James or JR Smith. Shumpert's salary is $9.7 million for 2016-2017.

Would look to trade Shump for a backup PG (not gonna rely on a rookie and broken down Mo). If Wade joins, David West (who the Cavs have been talking to) could put off retirement.

But even if we don't, I like our match up with Golden State. Their defense is going to suffer big time IMO.

People keep saying that the Warriors were a minute away from a championship - but that's not true anymore. Using Warrior fans own logic, the loss of Bogut was big. From the game he got injured, the Warriors lost the series 3-0 - two of those in their building, and two of them were blow outs. One of those three Draymond missed, but it's still worth noting that when Golden State lost it's toughness and depth, they got beat down 3-0.

So now enter Durant - eliminate Bogut and depth...take away Barnes who is probably a better defender than Durant - or at least more willing to expend his energy on the defensive end of the floor. What you get is Durant joining a team that was not one minute away from a championship - but a team that was essentially swept 3-0, because you're taking away some of the key pieces that had the Warriors up 3-1 in the series to begin with.

It's very, very likely that the Cavs improve because LeBron/Love/Irving still haven't played together for that long - there's also improvement from the experience of winning a championship. Meanwhile the Warriors, even if this improves their team (which would be hard to do), will take a while to gel.

They signed Zaza who brings similiar toughness/grit

Wouldpat riley facilitate a sign and trade if wade is determined to leave? At least miami can get something back in return (ie shumpert and pieces with picks)

Cleveland traded away their 2018 1st round pick already so the earliest 1st rounder they can trade is the 2020 one. Usually a pick that far in the future isn't viewed as valuable as the GM acquiring this pick may be acquiring for his replacement down the road (one statistical analysis indicates that the average lifespan of an NBA GM is approximately 5.6 years). Also not sure that Shumpert has that much value either. Trading for Wade would be difficult if the Heat want to keep the core group that won the championship who may have some significant trade value (i.e. Lebron, Irving, Love, Thompson).

It is interesting Lebron hasn't resigned yet could mean nothing but it's possible he's trying to somehow restructrue his contract tomake roomfor another piece like wade especially if he knows its theonly way to realisticallycompete with the warriorsfor a championship/

Not being the highest paid player on your team throughout your 13 year career. I hope Wade does leave.

Possibly. Lebron could take a 1 year deal and let Wade get the big money...then re-up in the summer of 2017. It would just be one year of pocket change.

Its not that easy as lbj taking a paycut and letting wade take his money. Is there enough cap room to sign wade, or if any? Cavs' salary is through the roof already. Cavs have lbj's bird right to re-sign and go above, but cannot do that for wade.

I think the main addition is actually Wade as a second playmaker. With Delly gone, somebody needs to run the offense when LeBron is off. Hopefully Kyrie can become a better playmaker, but I wouldn't go into the season counting on it.

Cavs' have 20million in Cap space without re-signing JR and Lebron. Shumpert has a 9.7mill salary for 2016-2017.

Oh and they have to take Bosh too. The Cavs could try to swing him for picks and expiring that would come to the HEAT.

Once they re-sign Lebron how much money will they have?

Okay thanks for clearing that up. So theoretically wade can take $20m and then re-sign jr and lbj using bird right?

Wade already has rings. If I'm him I will not taking a pay cut to ring chase. $40M from Miami (when he barely plays half the season) > ring chasing for peanuts in Cleveland.

And sidebar: Wade is washed. How much help can he even be? Unless Richard Jefferson left some HGH in his old locker...
