Re: How good is Jokic?
Jokic has all time great talent. He is insanely skilled. Everything from touch to visual/spatial intelligence to balance and using his body. He already makes decisions like a 10 year vet, it's pretty crazy honestly.
I would make the provocative statement that you don't know basketball if you don't see the tremendous talent he is.
I've watched ball for 20 years now and Jokic is in the "this could be something" category of guys like Curry, Durant, Lebron, Kobe to take the most prominent the last 15 years.
Lots of ifs and buts with him, but his pure talent is all time great category. A lot can go wrong.
KAT vs Jokic is like Ewing vs Hakeem, not comparing playing style. KAT is a full package, what you see is what you get, but the raw exceptional talent of Jokic is way beyond KAT.

KAT already has the most complete offensive skillset in the league for a big. AT AGE 21. Let's not act like he's already a finished product while at the same time gushing about Jokic's untapped potential.

I'm just going to say that I'm going to look forward to the KAT-Jokic matchups in the future

Re: How good is Jokic?
I think that, in a way, Jokic is a victim of the TV camera. The guy is playing in a silky smooth, almost effortless Serbian BB fashion that does not readily translate to the eye test hype for the NBA standards that many viewers have. Sometimes, he looks completely disinterested in the game, slow and cumbersome.
This then becomes a matter of optics. Casuals watch highlights where he does a great job both in scoring and making his team-mates better, and readily undervalue him, because it looks easy on their screens. "Ha, he gets the ball 8 feet from the rim and simply chucks it in unguarded", or "he is shooting uncontested without even jumping much" etc etc.
The truth is that the guy is making basketball look easy. This is a testament to his skill and court IQ. And if you add this to his age and experience (2 months younger than Giannis for example, and only entering his 3rd NBA season), you can really only go up from there.
We are going to watch him make basketball look easy for many, many years to come.

KAT is younger the Jokic. How does he have any less untapped potential than Jokic when he improved as much as he did in his sophomore season?

Nikola Jokić is the best big-man passer I have ever seen though , like better than Sabonis and Pau. I think Karl-Anthony Towns will be better, but Nikola Jokić passes the Ricky Rubio on the court, he is amazing to watch.

I believe with another year of experience he can really fine tune his game and have the system built around him. Jokic and Millsap are perfect guys to have for a baby backcourt still growing.
Wouldn't it look like Millsap is playing with a Better Prime Horford?

Jokic averaged 22pts a game last year in his second year. Horford in his best scoring year averaged 18. Jokic is also an elite passer and far better than Horford in his prime which helps the guards out tremendously. However, Horford is much better on the defensive end.
Jokic is almost a 7 foot tall big man that gets triple doubles. He is far superior than prime Horford on offense but not the defensive player.
***Edit you said 'better' than prime Horford. And I still say yes especially when you see he is only 22 years old and will only get better.

If you changed the team and the name, I'd swear this topic was about larry bird. In short I think we're going a bit high on this kid.

Re: How good is Jokic?
did anyone mention his elite mid-range game (last season's 51.9%)?
LeBron 36.2%, Marc Gasol 40.8%, Melo 45.4%, Leonard 47.3%.

Saying he's the best big man passer you've ever seen makes me think you've never seen Bird or Magic play. The guy is obviously ELITE at passing, but Magic is one of the GOAT. Let's see what he does for a full year as the starter.

Love Jokic, reminds me of Webber when he passes.
He will be a top 15 player, but his defensive limitations will stop him from ever being a legit MVP candidate.

Jokic is awesome and i think he's right on par with the other young top tier bigs in Towns, Embiid, AD and Porzingis.

Him not playing in the euros may indicate he's finally juicing up this off season. If and successfully so, good night US big men.

If I'm trying to build a fantasy team to beat Golden State, he's probably the 3rd guy I pick after LeBron and Kawhi. What gives the best chance against GS is not 3pt chucking like the Rockets, it's a dominant offensive big who can bully Draymond and take advantage of their low cost/low IQ centers.

Re: How good is Jokic?
Before all these discussion about perennial all-star/MVP I want that he leads his team to the Playoff and perform well in the big stage.
But.... he is pretty good in defense too, better than the stats show because last year Denver was awful in the p&r situation (and unfortunetly this year won't be different).

Re: How good is Jokic?
IMHO, if a player is able to do amazing things on the court effortlessly and looks easy doing it, this means he is able to do whatever he wants in the game (Lebron, Curry and other elites).
Back to the topic, he is a great shooter below the 3pt line. Doesn't rely much of athleticism to score, amazing passer, great rebounder, basically an offensive juggernaut in a 6'11 body.
What Jokic needs now is a few more years of consistency and we are looking at the GOAT in the making.

In this topic when people say big men, I'm sure they're talking about just in the context of centers. When the conversation opens up to PFs then players like LeBron and Bird get included in the discussion.
