What part of Orlando is on the beach? That place is a slum. Have you ever been downtown?
Los Angeles is probably my least favorite city in America but i will grant that if i was making $10m/year it would be much more attractive.
Have you ever tried living in Florida? It has a lot of downsides... there's a reason most people move there only for asylum or after they've been arrested like 20 times in other states.
Atlanta. Shudder. It's like a bad rap video. They have cleaned Buckhead up a lot over the last decade. It's nothing like it was back during the Ray Lewis murders and the early 2000's where they used to bring busses down there every weekend because they didnt have enough police cars to arrest everyone at once.
Granted, I wouldn't want to live in Houston either. But it has a lot of appeal for urban players. Doncic is European though.
Again. I'm not going to talk too much about these cities. But Doncic is European. If he likes Europe then yeah these are going to be really unattractive places to live.
Personally, I'd rather live in a lot of the cities NBA players don't seem to like. Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix etc... But I'd also be cool with Philly, Chicago, etc.
But you start talking about Memphis vs Madrid... I mean c'mon. Have you ever been to Madrid? The beaches in Portugal? There is absolutely no comparison.
I got really messed up in LA one night and was trying to drive back to Vegas the next morning to gamble and accidently missed the turn and ended up headed back to Phoenix (which was okay because there was a music festival that Tool/Puscifer was playing at in Tempe that i was going to in a few days anyway). Well long story short I ran out of gas in the desert like an idiot. Well there is this old abandoned gas station about 50 miles from the nearest city and it has a phone number on it you can call and this old man will bring you 5 gallons or 10 gallons of fuel for $18.99/gallon. Those are the only two choices. 5 gallons or 10 gallons. Well i bought the 5 gallons and all in all I was there a few hours with no gas and half of everything i owned in my truck. The thing is Being completely stranded in the desert with one 20oz dasani water bottle doesn't even compare to what would have been going on in my mind if I'd had a flat tire in Memphis.
The point is I'm an idiot and I always find myself in precarious situations due to bad choices stemming from massive substance abuse problems. I've walked around practically every bad neighborhood in the country whether it be Flint Michigan, Gary Indiana, East Saint Louis, Durham NC, Red Hook New York, or South Chicago.
But I would never. Ever. Not in a million years get out of my car in Memphis. That song "Walkin' in Memphis" is a joke. I make sure I have enough gas in my car to get to Biloxi before I even get within 100 miles of Memphis. I dont even feel comfortable driving through there without bulletproof glass.
I have been to Orlando. I travel there at least once a year for business. There are beautiful parts and then there are bad parts. Same can be said with every major city in the US. Its 45 minutes away from the beach, and in December its 75 degrees.
45 minutes might as well be 6 hours to me. That's too far to carry a cooler. December might be the only month where the weather is nice in Orlando. It's a sweltering mosquito pit the rest of the year. The place is a freaking swamp. They built Disneyworld there because they couldn't give the land away.
So clearly you don't have a plus opinion of Orlando, Atlanta, definitely not Memphis. This just holds more true to my point. Why would Doncic not want to come to the Kings when those are the next choices for him.
Hes just going to tell every NBA team, sorry I won't play for you unless you are Boston, NY, Philly, or LA.
