I'm a lifelong teetotaler who made that choice due to watching a family member lose the battle and ultimately his life to his addictions. But I understand there is a lot of grace for me and I'm not sure why so many of you are quick to judge.
And I honestly hope others treat you better--because we all have moments when we need some grace and understanding.
I'm sorry but I think this is very unfair. You dont know the personal battles people on here have gone through or are going through currently. I stepped down from being a mod on here because of critical health battles I'm going through currently. I've lost a family member from suicide because of alcoholism.
All I'm saying and I believe what others are saying, it's not the NBA's position to be these players support groups. They are their employers, not their personal support system.
I really do hope Evans has a great family and loved ones to help support him through this. I just don't put the burden of his employer to do it, especially after they offer in-patient and aftercare for people who initially get put into their drug and Abuse program.
So don't come with the "lack of compassion and support" bs. I'm out of this dumbass conversation.
Add on: I know this was a heated reply. The post hit me in the feels (I believe that's how the youngins say it). Texas Chuck is a good dude.
As my hot headedness has cooled down, I think the main point that I was trying to say (didn't do it well) is just because someone has a difference of opinion on a topic like this doesn't mean they lack knowledge, compassion or sympathy on the subject. Sometimes a different view point is just that, a different view point.
