Far from ideal but still better than D'Antoni or Brett Brown.

Anybody is better. Hell you could pluck 5 knowledgeable posters from the board and they'd be better. I am not even joking.

I've never been Doc's biggest fan despite being grateful for 2008's championship run.

It's not a bad hiring by Philly. Doc's probably the best at managing egos in today's NBA, so if he can't at least get Simmons and Embiid to get along then you know one of them has to go. The issue is that his X's and O's aren't great so you'll need a good assistant coach in there to balance that out.

Shotgun weddings seldom work out. Expect Doc to add at least 3 additional years to the Process. Reckon Austin gets traded for Ben?

The more I think abt it, Doc should have signed with the Nets if not for Nash.
Doc didnt have to do anything to win championships there just bridge the 2 stars with the roster.
He easily got this job bc of Clippers, but he wont get another one if he fails this one and its one of the toughest jobs with Embiid likely to ignore him and do his own thing.
Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!

WUT?

Follow the Sixers much?

While people can slag Embiid for not being in the best possible cardiovascular condition (which would probaly make him a top-5 NBA player), nobody here in Philly is saying that Embiid is some kinf of uncoachable hardhead that just does his own thing and won’t adapt his game for the good of the team.

“Oh...hello, Ben! How’s the jump shot coming along?”

Doc will probably make the adjustment and have horford come off the bench...then play him more minutes over embiid

whats funny is, I have said this for years about brown... so many sixers religiously defended him, and now predictably many of those that did are trashing him now that hes been fired

its truly unreal

correct, joel has done whatever the coach has asked of him.. it is ben simmons who is a prima donna and refuses to do what is necessary

I truly hope rivers wants simmons traded

Hilarious. You know nothing about Philly. We're harder on underachieving coaches than we are on less than total effort players. Brett seems like a nice guy. And folks who now pass themselves off as sports reporters tend to say nice things because they depend on vapid "interviews" for material. But the majority of us has looked for a coaching change for years. And freaked last summer when we kept Brett and didn't extend Jimmy. Any coaching change was sorely welcome. The East has got 3 or 4 of the best, and we can only keep our fingers crossed for Doc, and wish him well. He'll get a fair shake with us, but no hug club.

I know plenty about what philly fans have said on realgm and on reddit.. The endless defense of brown and simmons has been nauseating over the years. Obviously not all fans were like this, but a large amount were

Ehh Brett was essentially the white doc rivers. Player coach , stubborn 7 man rotation , treats the aplha players as favorites . Both are used car salesman

Their coaching styles are almost identical. It's hilarious that Brand thinks this is an upgrade. I feel sorry for Sixers fans.

If we hired a Casey clone after firing Casey, I would have been livid. Thankfully, Masai knew what he was doing.
