It's really weird how it can effect people. A friend and his sister in their 20s got the virus 3 months ago. The friend is in decent shape, doesn't smoke and works out twice a week, while the sister smokes, is pushing a 40 BMI and is known to collapse once or twice a year.

Knowing that, you would think the sister would suffer way more from the virus. But it was the opposite. She showed no symptom, while the friend still felt like crap for 2-3 weeks after testing negative.

That's why I will get the vaccine once I'm allowed to.

my parents are both pushing 70 and had it back in August - dad was in bed for a week with flu-like symptoms but recovered just fine, and mom had no symptoms other than headache and recovered fine as well. Neither one went to hospital or a doctor, just took vitamins and cold medicine.

I also know around 20 total people at my own and my wife's work who've had it - one guy (aged approx 55 with some underlying heart issues) had to be hospitalized for a few days but recovered and is doing well. The rest of them just treated themselves at home with rest and medication, and all have recovered with no issues.

stay positive brother, I'm sending good vibes your way and am confident you'll beat this thing! Take a lot of vitamins - zinc, vitamin C and D are the ones I've read do the most good - and try to get outside for some sun and movement as much as possible if you feel well enough. I live in Florida, so it's possible the warmer weather and sunshine here have had some added positive effects that are less pronounced in cold-weather states. But the stats on COVID show that if you're relatively healthy and under age 70, your chances of serious problems from it are really minor, and the experiences of people I know who've had it confirm that.

Had a fever for a couple days, and about a week of body aches, headaches, and a bad cough. Smell and taste were completely gone, but taste came back about two weeks after I tested positive. It's been about six weeks now and my sense of smell isn't quite back to where it was. The cologne I wear, for instance, smells incredibly weird. I really just happened to be lucky that I had a relatively mild case; the worst of it wasn't as bad as some of the times I've had the flu. But I've known a couple people who have lost loved ones unfortunately.

I had a lot of Gatorade, oranges, and crackers, but my appetite was mostly gone. An oximeter to check your oxygen levels is a good idea, too.

I got vaccinated. Had the Pfizer shot. Simple and easy. After the first shot I had no side effects. Second shot I had body aches all night and through the next day. But nothing some Advil didn’t handle. My friends husband is a cop. In good shape with no medical issues, got covid recently. He’s been hospitalized for over a week now. Pneumonia and low blood oxygen levels. He’s 47 years old and hopefully he will recover soon. But he is an anti vaxer. And didn’t believe covid was worse than the flu. Now he does.

There is very, very little evidence to support what you are saying. If re-infection was anything other than an extremely rare occurrence - and I mean less than 1000 cases of confirmed re-infection worldwide - doctors and nurses all over would already be on their 3rd, possibly 4th infections by now.

Natural immunity covers variants.

Natural immunity is long-lasting and durable.

This is maybe the "best" article I've seen regarding the protection level the infection provides:
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.01.13.21249642v1

To summarize: The Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England conducted a study w/ about 21 000 healthcare workers who have been tested regularly between 2020 June and Nov. They found that previous covid infection provided a 83% efficacy against reinfection (within this 6 month period).

So it means that infection won't provide immunity, but provides a high level of protection for at least those 6 months. After that, who knows.

Health care workers are supposed have access to and be using the best available PPE, that 17% of them got reinfected is insanity.

I’m in my early 30s and had it last month. I had a high fever with chills and body aches. These symptoms lasted for a few days and then lost my smell. I felt fatigued for about a week and the smell slowly improved. Overall, it took me close to 10 days to fully recover.

Exactly what happened to me. 2 days of chills 2 days of aches then felt great. Then lost my smell a few days after the aches. Smell was gone for about 6 days. Basically 4 days of feeling bad and 6 days of not being able to smell, which I hate to say this is BY FAR the worst part of the whole thing for me. I'm 31. Also, a side note. I can honestly say I wouldn't of known I had covid if it weren't for the loss of smell. It's the only thing reason I truly knew I had it instead of a cold/flu. That might trigger some but it's true just an observation.

COVID kicks your *** for a week where all you want to do is sleep.

Second week; you feel what I would call off balance and fatigued, but you are able to get through the day.

After that, back to normal. It sucks, but what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? Stay safe and be well.

I took my Moderna 2nd shot yesterday and have been feeling exactly the same as OP as expected. Chill, fever, random part of body aches, demotivated to do anything. I am lying in bed today watching Band of Brothers just to appreciate the fact that compared to those blown arms and torn legs what I am experiencing right now is nothing.

I hope by the time of this post OP is already on his way of recovering.

They are just being sore losers. You have to remember this was never about a virus to them. They rushed to politicize it instantly, they're still doing it and they can't let go of the fact that they have taken an unprecedented amounts of losses in the past year. Their egos are getting battered and this is their equivalent to pulling a pistol to stop the beating. And sore losers is putting it nicely. Petulant fussy babies is more on the nose. Unfortunately this brand of person has always existed and always will, like invasive weeds.

No, I think you misinterpret the results.

There were 6614 people who was infected once. Among them 44 got reinfected, which is around 0.66%. Infections in the previously non-infected group were 318 among 14 173 people, which is around 2.2%.

OP, I hope you heal fully and getting there is as smooth as possible. There are a lot of good suggestions here, even if you choose to err on the side of moderation. If nothing else, you have support here, and hopefully that familiarity in reading others' experiences brings you comfort.

If you read around, there is significant evidence that there was community spread of covid in the US and Europe in at least December.

I can point to many other studies from other places.

My apologies for my wishful thinking. I believe everyone has a choice and I am not trying to push or force anyone to take the vaccine against their will.

Correct me if I'm wrong I'm not a medical expert and this is just what I've read and learned, but isn't Covid-19 a contagious virus and can be asymptomatic to certain people? That means it would be very difficult for us to tell who is actively carrying the virus. It is not like chickenpox that you can physically see who you have to avoid. From what I read the Vaccine does not prevent me from getting the virus but it allows my body to be ready to fight it off immediately which will result to mild symptoms for a few days compared to 2-3 weeks of recovery. The chances of me spreading the virus while being asymptomatic is significantly lower than someone who does not have the vaccine because their body is not familiar with the virus which will result to longer recovery. Hence why I think the vaccine is part of the solution for us to get back to normal.

This may be hard to believe since you and I seem to have different values but I genuinely care about other people. I want everyone to succeed and be happy. I think having compassion and caring for others are part of being human and will ultimately lead to a better and stronger community. Yes, you are correct that you contracting Covid and die from the virus will be insignificant to my day to day but I still wouldn't want you to get it. For instance, if you have the ability to make another person's day better or help them get through a rough patch would you go out of your way or would you just ignore it since it's not your responsibility? See 9/10 I would probably help because I have the ability to do so. I have the ability to social distance, wear a mask, and get the vaccine now that it is accessible to me so I'm going to do my part. Is it an inconvenience? Yes. But I'm still going to do it because I think it's the right thing to do.

A few friends and I were not so fortunate to keep our job during the pandemic so we were furloughed/laid off and had to look for other ways to pay bills. The sooner we work together and get rid of the virus the sooner we all go back to our jobs. Unfortunately I think it's going to take a bit longer since not everyone is on board with the vaccine, wearing mask, and social distancing with each other. Again I'm not a medical expert and I could be wrong but I just want to do my part and help however I can. Just my 2 cent.
Sometimes I'll start a sentence and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way.
