Either way, I see him as one of those fringe HoF players. Let's put it this way... before this season nobody would have dreamt to say he is a lock HoFamer. And he is 32. Logically this should tell you something. But logic is boring, let's all overreact and be emotional.

I watched basically all his games this year. The way he's playing is a variation on older MJ in his 2nd three-peat. It's body positioning, a huge assortment of fakes, midrange genius. I don't think it will age out quick. The surprise was how in tune it is with the rest of the offense, and so quick.

Do you disagree with my statement that before this season, he was seen nowhere close to Hall of Fame?

No sure what the hell a fluke season is. DDR is ballin, his team is winning. He has put up number similar to this in other seasons. Not sure where you see a fluke.

I would also disagree that he was nowhere near close. Before this season he was 4x all star, 2x all nba, 2x gold medalist on his way to 20k career points.

Wtf are some of you people talking about. Some of you are acting like he was clearly washed and on his way out of the NBA. He averaged 21.5/7/4 last season.

Hes your favorite players favorite player.

I don't get the emphasis on All-Star games being a qualifier, for any player, not even DeMar's HOF chances. I don't consider All-Star appearances that relevant when looking back at a player's career. Unless you are appearing in a high number of games or are winning multiple All-Star MVPs, I do not see the value in being a fan-voted All-Star related to these "HOF" and "All-Time Great" conversations.

It's over 20% now and we aren't even at the All Star break 8-)

Yeah. I’ve thought of this thread multiple times this season. Figured someone would bump my post.

For the record, I never disliked DD. I just didn’t think he’d make the HOF. I have changed my tune since then.

Most players who make the all-star team are not voted in by fans, and historically All-Star appearances is a category that can predict if someone will make the HOF. Larry Foust is the only player with 8 all-star appearances who isn't in the HOF. The team he was drafted by folded before he could play for them, he survived a plane crash with the Lakers, and he made the game winning shot in the game that was 19-18, which made the NBA institute a shot clock.

But every metric counts - all-star appearances, all-NBA teams, gold medals, points scored, ect.

Larry Foust only scored 11,198 points in his career, but scoring was lower before the shot clock. Demar should get to 20,000 career points, 5 all-star teams, and 3 All-NBA teams.

I also think the Hall will give Demar brownie points for making the NBA more popular in Canada. They care a lot about the growth of the game. They even inducted Canadian Sikh superfan Nav Bahatia into the hall as a fan:
