The Boston Celtics are a better team than the Sixers IMO and I don't have the Celtics rated as the top 2 team in the East. So overall the Sixers don't seem all that much different than any other top Eastern team.

JohnnyNightrain wrote:People never learn. Adding Harden to a team has, literally, never worked out. Every time it’s supposedly “different,” but it’s not. People swore the Nets would win the title easily for the next couple of years. That obviously didn’t work out. I wouldn’t be surprised if Harden is injured during the playoffs or he and Embiid start having spats when they lose. That’s what’s always happened with Harden.

Huh? When he broke through in OKC, they went to the finals. He turned Houston from nothing to a top team in the west and title contender. Brooklyn had injuries, yes. It likely cost them the title. This year Brooklyn had injuries and Kyrie.

He has certainly disappeared in some big playoff moments, and is probably best suited as a second best player on a team at this point. Thats exactly what he is in Philly. Injuries are a concern, as they are with anyone. If youre watching Embiid this year and dont see him as a reliable first option, im not sure who is? Hes the complete package, and now paired with the best player hes ever played with in Harden.

You say everytime hes added to a team its never worked out? It did in OKC and Houston, and didnt in Brooklyn because of injuries in one year, when it was clear they were about to beat Milwaukee. Where has be been added to a team where it wasnt a good thing?

Exactly! The only reason they did better than Celtics in the standings up until now was because they had Curry. Without him, forget about it!

You gotta be delusional or trolling to not see swapping in Harden for Seth Curry as an upgrade. Unless you thought they had Steph Curry?

Not sure how you can watch this and think Ben freaking Simmons makes the Nets better than Harden did. I'm sorry. I know the narrative the last couple weeks but...

The Harden the Nets had their last 10 games together is not the Harden you saw last night.

When he wants out he quits on his team.

That was the joke. This clown had Celtics above the Sixers even though they were already ahead of them and essentially replaced Curry with Harden.

Sure but if they kept him past the trade deadline he would have locked back in.

This thread is from a dude that palms get a little harrier every time Embiid has a mildly successful game. And then feels the need to start a thread over it. It doesn't take much to get him excited over any Philly success.

That being said he hated Harden in the past and even though he's on the Sixers now I'm surprised OP has completely flip flopped (I'm really not) since he's gonna take some touches away from him obsession - Embiid.

I dont think Nets fleeced the Sixers. But their POV is more of Sixers could have gave up less for Harden because once a star once out you dont need to give up that much for him. For instance, Sixers could get Harden in the offseason just by freeing up capspace for him.

I know its the Wolves. But it’s just business as usual for Embiid and Harden while having those two frees up things for guys like Maxey and Thybulle with a lot of opportunistic baskets of transition or off the gravity Embiid or Harden generates.

Harden is a genius man. Any offense he's ever been given the keys to, he's unlocked in record time and with elite playmaking. He can't win a title alone but hardly anyone can. Going to be an incredible fit with Embiid, never seen him with a DPOY and equivalent scorer, and one that can get reliable points at the basket in the playoffs.

Harden's team, as it has been almost every season since he joined the Rockets, is underrated because some people just don't like how he achieves what he does. Believe me, Sixers fans will be fine with it when they realize they're an easy 60-win team for the next 2 seasons.

The free throw thing with Embiid and Harden is something I was thinking about when the trade happened. I'm wondering if they will keep averaging the same attempts while being on the same team. The free throw numbers are going to be quite ridiculous if they keep getting around 10 a game. Basically wondering if their calls will be officiated differently to prevent the 76ers from having such a crazy free throw advantage. First game is a good sign if you're a Sixer fan.

Don't think there has been a guard and center duo since Shaq & Kobe that have averaged close to 10 free throws a game at the same time. Harden & Dwight were close, but Embiid's overall scoring and free throw shooting is on a different level.
