How can a coach be drawing up a play for a player not there. I thought it hurt the Hawks to have done so well last season that McMillan got the full-time job. He's really not been good in his previous jobs.

It seems like Trae is ready to move on from Nate McMillan. His body language through out the last few games in the series was terrible. It's like he didn't want to play anymore.

He was probably pissed off at himself, and was projecting his inadequacies on McMillan at that time. He really needs to learn how to play off the ball, trust his teammates, and take more "normal" range 3 pointers. Those three simple things would change the dynamic of the team a lot.

I agree. Trae said “It’s about putting in the right system for me to be off ball” so maybe the team will work on it this offseason. Just need another playmaker to make it happen.

If he can improve his handles, and playmaking this offseason, I think he could be an all-star next year, if he was given a bigger role.

Still waiting for you to provide the posts I asked for to back up your personal attack or your public apology. I mean I've been here since 2001 should be pretty easy to find posts where I said anything like what you claimed I did.

Maybe I'll make it on the other sites where you are in your feelings about me lol. I'm flattered by the obsession but pretty sure posters on HawkSquawk don't actually care about what I think.

I didn't attack you a single time in this thread and owe you exactly zero apologies. I simply said I disagreed with the approach that everything is fine, and that any criticism of the team or pointing out weaknesses is an attack on the Hawks or their fans.

I get a couple of you don't like me and have decided to play victim. I find that boring and lame so let's get back to the Hawks and stop making this about me already. I mean seriously.

The irony is I defend the Hawks a lot on this board, but you forget that to dwell on any perceived criticism. Let's not.

You accused me of saying something I never said and never have said. You are now adding to that list of things I haven't said in this post. Where have I ever said everything is fine with the Hawks? Seriously? Where have I ever said any criticism of the team or pointing out weaknesses is an attack on the team or its fans? Why wouldn't any rational human being be offended at someone especially in a position of nebulous authority trying to put words in their mouths and then have the audacity of accusing them of having a "persecution complex"?

The sad part is you know I am right and you refuse to admit it. Talk to me PMs or on Hawksquawk if you want to discuss this further. You don't have to worry about someone accusing you of saying things you never said on there.

Sounds good. FWIW I'm glad Luka make it out of the first round this year. I called him a generational talent before that draft, have greatly enjoyed watching him play and can breathe a little easier now that he is making it further into the playoffs.

Considering that no Hawks fan has said any criticism is trolling I'd love to see you provide examples of a Hawks fan saying any criticism is trolling. Please, show us. Otherwise I'd hate to think a mod is making blanket statements about a fanbase that is directly against the TOS for attacking a fanbase. Especially as a mod.

If you looked at actual reality, which I realize is a stretch for some posters, data and facts have been provided. The Hawks were over .600 until the Dec to mid Jan stretch where the team was playing non NBA players and G league as starters. The rest of the season from mid Jan to the end of the season the team was again over .600. That's two thirds of a season (give or take) of playing over .600 ball in a much tougher Eastern than Western conference. And yet still if the Hawks were in the West they would have been the fifth seed and still finished several games over .500 and won two must win games to make the playoffs.

So we can dwell on the one third of the season where the team was facing massive injuries and covid issues or the other two thirds of the season where the actual Hawks played. The playoffs were "sad" only because of injuries. We only had two starters healthy in the series.

I hope the Hawks improve this offseason by adding a second star to the team but anyone thinks this past team was a bad team is ignoring reality or letting their own bias show through.

You were 14-15 when you started losing games in December.

Trae played every game
Collins played every game
Capela played every game
Huerter missed one game
Wright missed one game
Reddish missed 3 games
Gallo missed 3 games
Lou will missed 3 games
Bogi missed 7 games
Hunter missed 8 games

So you had about the same amount of injuries as most teams and were a game under .500 not .600 as you referring to.

In terms of games missed to injury you were 6th best for the entire season!

Cool little graphic. Did you make it in paint?

Nothing I said was a lie. I corrected you about being .600 when your record was 14-15 when fully healthy early in the year. You were 6th best in terms of games missed. So if you think the Hawks had it bad, others had it worse! It’s ok to admit it.

Boston was the best in terms of games missed which is big reason we were able to turn it around. There is no shame in admitting that.

So get worst on defense? Look its obvious defense is the biggest issue. Just about anyone can put 30 on the hawks.

Nah I just don’t agree with your lil microwave solutions for the Hawks. That may be the way it works with the Lakers, Hawks gotta be a lil more creative.

He's right. The answer lies with his own team though. You guys should trade Collins and Capela for AD. Both sides win.

Congrats Trae for 3rd team all-nba.
Now his contract changes from $177M/5yr to $212M/5yr, making Hawks $7.8M over the luxury tax.

Now should they pick up Gallinari for trade or just waive him?

Yeah you can really tell..no surprise though when a ton on this board thought Trae had zero shot to ever win a playoff game barely a year ago. Hawks have clearly peaked starting 4 guys 24 and under.
