A lot of what happens to the Warriors rests on the Wyzeman. His development really can offset a lot of other players coming or going. Thus far, we haven’t seen it at all on the defensive side of the ball and offensively it’s been meh. Defensively is what scares me cuz there’s no physical reason he couldn’t be like a Robert Williams but he’s just got no timing and takes weird fouls or charge attempts instead of just blocking shots.

A lot rests on a player that didn't play at all during a championship season?

Next year expect a lot of our vets to be resting, we'll be giving time to the young guys. After winning 73 games in 2016 and losing in the finals the Warriors don't hard sweat the regular season anymore. Wiseman will be useful in letting Looney/Dray play fewer minutes and sit out games. Last year Steve sat vets a bunch of games and we were fine with not trying to compete for the #1 seed. Our guys are just too old to hard grind the RS.

or they can be post 2019 laker and just become relevant as a big market team but not really contending.

Reasonable post.

Imo they would have traded their youth for a difference making star/elite player all along, but such players are scarce and probably wary of joining GSW in any case after the KD hoo ha. It would also cost them a bomb in luxury tax as opposed to their young players on rookie contracts, and I doubt Lacob will want to focus purely on short term aims with a stadium to pay for, particularly now they have won the 4th title. If they had narrowly lost the title however I suspect there would be widespread criticism of the GSW FO for not trading their youth for more vet help for Curry et al.

Electric, I was wondering if you could change the title name. When calling something a "Mortem," it implies that a playoff team has been defeated. For the Warriors, they won the title, they're victors. Instead of Mortem, could you use something like the word "Epilogue" or "Aftermath," a special word that alludes to a happy ending, and reserved exclusively to this season's champion.

Regarding the Warrior's plans, I don't see anything that has to be changed. By defeating the most powerful legacy team in NBA history, the Warrior's dynasty is officially solidified. Warriors now join Lakers and Hawks as only teams to have defeated the Celtics in an NBA Finals. Any championships won after that will only heighten the Curry era. Don't know if it will be as great as Celtics streak of eight titles in a row or pair of threepeats achieved by Bulls, but Golden State is this close to catching the Laker's streak of greatness after a very down period following their lone 70's championship win. I see at least another repeat in their future with the roster as is.

What makes this title even special: it was won without Jerry West. He laid down the foundation when he was brought in many years ago, and Joe Lacob, Peter Guber, and the front office have taken his wisdom to heart, and the result is an extended dynasty.

It's going to take a literal miracle for the Ultimate Warriors to be defeated now.

Non-mortem = no death. It's fine imho, it stays consistent with the other "post-mortem" threads, for the eliminated teams.

I also think the title should be changed - we’re the champs. Seems like a minor thing to ask for to crown a thread with a title name like Championship Aftermath

Let’s celebrate winners around here
