What am I missing with this trade?

Clear Wizards win. Lakers need shooting far more than another Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Oh yea Lakers are going to miss his 32% 3 point shooting.

Lakers have Dennis, Russ, Beverly, Austin and Lonnie who all we're getting mins before Nunn. Nunn has only started playing mins since Austin and Lonnie went down. Meanwhile, Lakers backup forwards are Troy Brown Jr, Wenyan Gabriel, and Juan Toscano Anderson. So which seems more important?

Hopefully I helped you find what you're missing.

Kuzma must be so mad right now

I don't think Kuzma is mad knowing that he's about to get a big contract, likely from the Wizards

Yea idk what the wizards are doing. They'll be paying 100+ to Beal, Porzingis and Kuzma chasing the 11th seed.
We laugh at the Kings but Wizards have been just as incompetent.

The allure of the unknown is much more enticing than a player for whatever reason. The wizards could have gotten a lot more for the #10 pick last year vs what they can get for Johnny Davis this year.

I agree, Rui should have gotten a low first but maybe that is what his value really was if they did their rounds with all buying teams.

Rui was a disappointment whose rookie contract was expiring that the Wizards rightly didn’t deem worthy of an extension. I guarantee this is the best they were possibly getting and it’s more than he’s worth.

This just means the Wiz are pot committed to giving Kuz a huge contract this summer. He must be thrilled tbh.

Yup. He's about to get paid by a team where he's able to chuck to his heart's content. This is a dream scenario for Kuzma.

Three Lakers 2nd rounders is definitely more valuable than one low 1st.

The Wizards coach is actually letting him shoot more than Beal and Porzingis which is insanity

They got their #2, and two #3 options. They desperately need a Batman. Maybe they get very lucky with the lottery balls.

It's a good trade for LA, low-risk, low-reward for them. I
just hope that they don't follow-up with a trade taking big salary like Rozier/Hayward, I rather have that cap space, one playoffs meltdown for Sixers or Nets and suddenly Kyrie or Harden might be available for close to max money. They have the perfect excuse in LA if their season fails, they got Glassman to blame there. Anyone that can score in double figures is welcome in the Lakers. Dude's 6'8 and at one point shot 44.7% in 3's with 2.9 attempts per game for a season playing just 42 games. Nunn didn't work in LA anyway and 2nd round picks isn't that valuable as some might think, you can just buy it and with salary tax teams are paying nowadays, that's just peanuts. Seems like the coach ot Wizards doesn't like Rui as his minutes declining since his rookie year. Can he already play against Clippers? Lakers will lose that game for sure as Kawhi is onfire and Clippers is undefeated since Clipsfan change his name back to OKCfanagain. Leonard averaging 33.0 in their current 2-game winning streak. West will be a bloodbath moving forward, a 5-game losing streak and you're in a Play-in spot from having a court advantage. 13 teams wanted a Playoffs spot, seems like the Play-in elimination is effective to less tanking teams.

Cue the NPCs who only care about the number in the 3P% column on basketball reference. If you actually watch the Lakers play you'd understand that the lack of size/strength on the wing is this team's biggest weakness, especially when AD is out. We've had to play three-guard lineups in drop coverage with Thomas Bryant, one of the worst defensive centers in the league, anchoring the defense. No size or strength to be versatile on defense, Pat Bev has hard to guard the Kawhi's and Paul George's of the league. We're a bad three-point shooting team for sure, but Ham has been able to scheme up some decent looks. When Reaves and Walker have played we've been able to hit enough of them to manufacture a decent offense given they're 2nd in the league in pace. Hachimura has also shot above 40% on corner threes this year and last year, so he should be fine in Ham's offense.

Losing Nunn means absolutely nothing, he was atrocious to start the season and was about to be glued to the bench again when Reaves and Walker came back. It's also funny to see Hachimura described as some horrible liability of a defender in this thread when the actual Wizards fans are saying he's inconsistent but has some tools on that end.

I mean they keep chasing the play-in so are destined to select in the late lottery. Even if they draft a stud, that rookie won't be ready to contribute still Beal is in his mid-30s.

Honestly, Nunn’s biggest strength relative to Rui is that the Lakers realized that he sucked and only played him when there was no one else available. I could see this trade actually hurting the Lakers this year since they’ll feel obliged to play Rui regular rotation minutes even though with his poor fit on the Lakers, he’s not actually good enough to deserve them. If Rui eats into Brown and Gabriel’s minutes, that’s a clear L for the Lakers.

I like this for the Lakers. Rui is still young and has some size and scoring ability. He’s flawed, but a change of scenery might be beneficial to his development.

I like this trade as nunn has been in my personal dog house all season , he was poking his head out of the dog house a little of recent but he was still playing below avg imo , Rui is a smart player i hope he can adapt if so we have a potential new asset and offensive weapon going forward

I mean I don’t know whose 2nd rounders are they, are they all the lakers?

I mean we all wish we can net a guy like jokic, green, and etc, but most 2nd rounders don’t even see their 2nd nba contract. Most first rounders at least get to reach a 2nd contract.
