They’re just a worse treadmill version of Mitchell/Gobert jazz team.
They tanked for Wemby, that was too good of an option to pass on
despite tanking they won alot of games
they have guys like Markaennen whose made a huge jump and other productive player, including some younger ones who will def be better next year
with the play-in format anything is possible, adding a legit starter in Collins is awesome
Utah has a long history of being competitive yet not a real chanmpionship caliber team, I think their fans prefer it this way and wouldn't be interested in a prolonged tank
moreover, thy have so many picks in the coming years from their trades, they still will have plenty of chances to swing for the fences to get better top end talent
they could also use their remaining cap space to sign a vet guard for around 20m per season, even if it's just for a two year deal that won't hurt their flexilibilty long term
Markannen had a legit case for top 20 player last season, if he can show that wasn't a fluke and he can generate elite offense in good volume like he did last season - they will be in a very good spot
Lauri \ Kessler (looking like a stud already and will only get better) \ Clarkson \ Collins \ Olynik \ their rookies and some interesting depth with Ochai \ THT (if he stays) \ Fontecchio
that's not great but it's a start

if they get a good vet Guard with their remaining cap they would be a really competitive and annoying team
and start buiilding some chemistry, culture and continuity
I like it alot, Collins has untapped potential, Hawk were a mess for his entire tenure on and off the court
sure he's overpaid but he can be better than he has shown and i'm sure if they made this trade it's because they believe in him and intend to feature him more and play thru him more - he was always phased out in those Hawks teams
